At any rate - I took the inspiration for this from thistlerose's Three Weeks Outside Time. This actual scene, with Sirius saying it out loud, never happened - but Sirius did think it more than once.

I noticed the changes, and that the original was better. I'm so sorry about my email about it, because you would have let it be the way it was (which was beautiful, even more than what you finally posted) if I hadn't made my ignorant comment :(
