Oh, boy.

I have only just discovered the "read aloud" function on Acrobat Reader.

You have no idea the kind of stuff I've been making it read.

There is something about hearing it say "He just does me right, man" that had me in tears. ♥

And now, something of a rec :) This article is very, very old - I didn't even have a LJ back then, go figure. But I was already stalking Kimagure like it was my job, and so I stumbled on (and saved) this: Reacting to constructive crits.

I found myself agreeing with it quite a lot - and I found myself thinking back to it when I got my own concrits, years later. And who knows, it might be interesting for other people as well. :3

Aaaaah! Oona reminded me - I haven't been talking about the Olympics in here much, but I have been following them, and.

Matthew Mitcham.

I missed all his dives, when I switched on the tv he had just found out he'd won the gold medal, and the parade of hugs started.

...now, is it just me, or it really looked like he gave happy hugs to the girls, yes, but it was the boys he actually clung to like an octopus? On top of that, there was this pretty guy he was hugging that also gave Matthew a kiss on the cheek, and aw.

My little slashy heart. So happy, it was. ♥ ♥ ♥

Thanks for reccing the entry on crits - just had a read of it and think I will keep it in mind.

Glad to hear that! :D

And his bf is really so much taller than him, hee! They showed the two of them and his mum on Aussie tv.

OMG he is so cute. They are so cute. *squeeeee*

(I cannot italian today, I have the dumb. Well, actually I'm cramming for french and I am afraid I'd make a fool of myself using "avec" instead of "con," for example.)

But I looooooove the Olympics. Was Mitcham the one that stood on his hands? Because that was awesome. I also love the gymnastics, and the rowing, and I downloaded the judo and taekwondo but haven't watched yet, and the track and field (Jamaicans pwned 100m). ZOMG.

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* I don't know, but I saw several divers standing on their hands ;D But yeah, I've just been watching his dives on YT and he was amazing!

(No worries about the Italian! ;D)

[identity profile] ourmutualfiend.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure he did, but then handstands are now required in at least one of your dives ;)

Jamaicans beat us dear Yanks silly. But at least we still have the 400m :D

[identity profile] reconditarmonia.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. See, I didn't know that. My parents called us to the TV saying "OMG LOOK IT'S AWESOME."

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Woah! :o

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha! My mum was the same way ;D I was watching the Matthew rerun with her, and she was all sad that I hadn't got to see it - while I was more of the "aw, no, this is fine too..." opinion.

I don't think she cottoned on why, though. *g*

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw the guy is so cute. ♥♥♥

[identity profile] ourmutualfiend.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Love love love it!

[identity profile] spacedye-vest.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
mwahahahhaa you are so cute!

He is amazing!

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
What? I really didn't expect him to be! XD I've been wrong often enough before to be reasonably wary ;P

[identity profile] sopdetly.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
A little Google-fu tells me that he's the only openly gay athlete in the Beijing Olympics. So there you go! IT'S CANON! ;)

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
...of course, which is the only one my gaydar picks up? THE BLATANTLY AND OPENLY GAY ONE. I should have known. XDDD

[identity profile] sopdetly.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! Well, I need to revise it: he's the only openly gay MALE athlete. There were, apparently, about a dozen lesbian/bi women playing -- including a really cute couple on the Norwegian handball team. (Pic! (http://www.afterellen.com/sites/www.afterellen.com/files/Gro-Katja-nose.jpg))

The US men divers were giving off some pretty crazy vibes, too. One of them was SKIPPING during the event. It was adorably hilarious. XD

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, that's a cute pic! :D

Why oh WHY do I always miss the silly dorky stuff? ;P Okay, so not spending all my days watching the competitions wasn't so bad, but seeing a little more wouldn't really have hurt. ;D

[identity profile] onehundredmoons.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally own that container of butt paste, btw! It's really good!! :D

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha! Have you ever read any book from the Liquor series of Poppy Z. Brite? I have that icon because of Prime ;D

[identity profile] carmine-ink.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's definitely not just you. ;)

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
A Guardian article, even! XD It probably would have been worrying if I HADN'T picked up on it, right? ;D

[identity profile] penhaligonblue.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, did you see this?

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
...

...

...

I'm sorry, I'm laughing so hard I just can't breathe. XD

[identity profile] penhaligonblue.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Aren't the Olympic Games the best excuse to ogle athletic young men in skimpy clothing?

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It is! It is! And I kept getting ideas about crossovers between Olympic Games and the HP boys, which sadly never came to fruition. ;P

[identity profile] penhaligonblue.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, man. I would love to see that. *Bats eyes seductively*

[identity profile] werewolf-lib.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
So many pictures of the male Olympic athletes congratulating each other looked like stills from a porno movie I'd like to see!

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha! Yeah, I totally agree with that ;D Awww, do we really have to wait four years for the next one? :P

[identity profile] aunt-agatha.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Your icon! They sell that here! :D

I missed all the slashy swimmers and will be feeling it for years. Years!

[identity profile] kasche.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! A friend actually got me a tube of that, if you can believe it ;D (and it's all because of a gay novel, too. ...and no, the paste wasn't used in that way. ;P )

Awwww! We can be bereft together? That was the only one I saw. ;P

Stolen from somewhere else (and hee hee at #6)

"Here are the top nine comments made by NBC sports commentators so far during the Summer Olympics that they would like to take back:

1. Weightlifting commentator: 'This is Gregorieva from Bulgaria. I saw her snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing.'
2. Dressage commentator: 'This is really a lovely horse and I speak from personal experience since I once mounted her mother.'
3. Paul Hamm, gymnast: 'I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father.'
4. Boxing analyst: 'Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious.'
5. Softball announcer: 'If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same thing again.'
6. Basketball analyst: 'He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn't like it. In fact you can see it all over their faces.'
7. At the rowing medal ceremony: 'Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew.'
8. Soccer commentator: 'Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field.'
9. Tennis commentator: 'One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them... Oh my God, what have I just said?' "
