- except that, you know? The city I live in is beautiful, the air is still warm, and I'm the happiest I've been in years. *inhales deeply and lets it out*

(And, well, usually on LJ there's little enough happiness to go by that I felt it worth the mention. ;) )

(Nope, no man involved - though, you know. It's not like I'd mind if a good one passed by. ♥)

OH AND. For once I followed the link to one of Amazon UK's promotional emails*, and my eye happened upon this.

It's a trimmer. I mean, it is. It says right so on the bottom. So WHY at a first - admittedly very very short, until I stopped and went to look back and saw that uh, no, I was wrong, whoops - glance it looked like SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY? My mind is in the gutter. It is. I know. I should just suck up and accept the fact, I guess. ;P

* Er. *scratches head* Does anyone around here own an ebook reader? I'm still at the stage when I'm "thinking about it", and, I don't know. Any type I should avoid, which one gives value for its money, etc...?
- dad found it I don't even know where, and here I am sharing it. :D

A few people on my flist have been feeling down lately, for various reasons. I hope this'll help make you relax and smile, at least a little ;) Parts 1+2! )

Also, keeping up with the sportsy theme from the previews entry, a NWS pic that )

Oh, boy.

I have only just discovered the "read aloud" function on Acrobat Reader.

You have no idea the kind of stuff I've been making it read.

There is something about hearing it say "He just does me right, man" that had me in tears. ♥

And now, something of a rec :) This article is very, very old - I didn't even have a LJ back then, go figure. But I was already stalking Kimagure like it was my job, and so I stumbled on (and saved) this: Reacting to constructive crits.

I found myself agreeing with it quite a lot - and I found myself thinking back to it when I got my own concrits, years later. And who knows, it might be interesting for other people as well. :3

Aaaaah! Oona reminded me - I haven't been talking about the Olympics in here much, but I have been following them, and.

Matthew Mitcham.

I missed all his dives, when I switched on the tv he had just found out he'd won the gold medal, and the parade of hugs started.

...now, is it just me, or it really looked like he gave happy hugs to the girls, yes, but it was the boys he actually clung to like an octopus? On top of that, there was this pretty guy he was hugging that also gave Matthew a kiss on the cheek, and aw.

My little slashy heart. So happy, it was. ♥ ♥ ♥
I've got something like FIVE MINUTES to do everything I have to do and then run away (more on that later - maybe), but -

- questo è più per gli italiani, però. XD Ho visto questo per caso questo sketch l'altro giorno e ci ho riso COME UNA DEFICIENTE.

I piccioni. I PICCIONI!

A small note for everyone, though - you want a [livejournal.com profile] monophobia comic of your own? Or, better yet, you want TWO? Two that will be absolutely your own, show only to whom you choose to show them to, slap on your own mug or t-shirt or whatever? NOW YOU CAN. ♥ ♥ ♥.

*RUNS AWAY*
[livejournal.com profile] crooked linked to this a few days ago - and what with me being me, I only watched it today.

I was almost crying with laughter, it's so awesome.

The girl said: i just really fucking love this video, for multiple reasons. one being that james and sirius? have done this. trufax. )

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

But damn it is bastard cold here, which I've found is the only way to keep me out from the study on weekends. I like my right hand. I'd like to keep doing stuff with it. Possibly with all my fingers still attached.

BUT SNOW! :O

(I did have a date tonight, though.)

(Also - grargh, sorry for yesterday's entry! ^^; I hadn't really meant to lock the comments, that was just a leftover from a crossposting entry from the day before, and then I run off almost at once - was already late for class - so I didn't even notice. All unlocked now! Sorry!)

And and and - I've done this ages ago, and never really posted it - which was probably the wise course of action.

I am not much of one for wise courses of action.

So here it is.

(Yes. Yes I saved the cheezburger pics I liked most and yes I uploaded them on a photobucket account. Also, yes I'm a pretty sad person too, I suppose.)

I also did not just check the Build-a-Bear website to see if they had chef outfits. I mean - I don't even want a chef teddy bear. (Hey. I really don't.)
Okay. My flist - just like yours, I bet - was flooded with the whole Dumbledore thing, and I did found myself starting to think "oh my god, not again" when I was checking it.

But, well.

In the end I just couldn't resist.

Because, you know what was the very first image that crossed my mind, as soon as I read the news?

The image is [livejournal.com profile] yukipon's, of course. :D I wanted to link to the original post, which is here, but the images aren't showing anymore - which means that I went to look for the website page, but it seems like that wasn't working either, if you open the page from outside. :( I hope this is all right...?

“I tell you one thing, though. If that friend of yours makes you happy, hang onto ‘em any way you can. Ain’t too often in this life you meet another person makes you really happy. Listen to this shit,” Chef Irvin said, stubbing out his cigarette on the sole of his shoe. “Motherfuckin Hallmark Cards oughta hire me. Make me head of the motherfuckin inspirational division.”

The Value of X, by Poppy Z. Brite

I suppose I could have stopped a sentence sooner, but then it would have taken out some of Chef Irvin's verve, I'm afraid. :P I also suppose this is more of an advice, than a simple quote - read in context, that phrase was referred to a single friend, and a pretty particular kind of one... but that's really the beauty of taking things out of context. You can take them to mean pretty much anything. In my case, though, I don't want to go really that far - also because there is no rule that says you can have only one best friend. You can get lucky and have more of them - both online and offline, I'm not making distinctions. And I know I've had that phrase, that hang onto ‘em any way you can, ringing quite a few times in my head all last week.

Now - it's been kind of a rough week, next one will probably be just as much so, which means that I was wondering if you could help me out some. I'd like this entry's theme to be All things funny. I just really, really need to laugh as much as I can*, so if you can think of any funny stories, pictures, links, whatever - could you post them here? Please. Don't worry about what I might like or not - whatever sounded funny to you. For any reason. Pretty please? ♥

* Books helped in that regard, though. I'd started reading A Confederacy of Dunces - a new bookshop opened, and the section with the books in English is a thing of beauty - but it really wasn't doing the trick, and last Tuesday I switched to A Monstrous Regiment. By page 25 I was definitely sure that yes, that was just the thing. (I'm not saying that I wasn't liking Confederacy, though. It just wasn't the right moment for it.)
I keep going back to it, I know, but there are random things I liked/found funny about Deathly Hallows that I remember every now and then.

One is how Stan ended up being a DE. That lives in the "I found funny" area. Especially when I went back with my mind to the Great Confrontation, in HBP, between Harry and the Minister Of Magic Whose Name I Forget But Definitely Isn't Slughorn.

Another - which still falls under the "I found funny" category - is the mention, at the beginning of the book, of what Sirius' Infamous Bike actually looked like.

Reading that it was one of those sidecar deals?

I SO had this mental image.

Sorry for the spam. But I swear to you, this just made my day that bit brighter.
Aw, folks, I'm really sorry - ma mi sa che quest'entry è tutta per gli italiani. :D

Insomma, ero con un amico, stavo girovagando per Youtube, salta fuori l'Ottavo Nano... E chi resiste? :P

Brunello Robertetti!

E si continua con Vulvia, Quelo, Alberto Angela, Art Attack... )

...Okay, so I did just eight. I'm just not sure I've seen ten tv shows. Not counting anime, I mean.

And now, since I know a few people in my flist are almost as obsessed with it as I am might be interested in this, YouTube video with Poppy Z. Brite talking about Liquor. )

Also, OH MY GOD THIS IS WONDERFUL. I love that RSS feed something truly atrocious.
KISSYBOOK PROJECT * It's a book about kissing.

I enter a bookshop meaning to buy a book of either Spanish or French grammar, and I come out of there with a copy of Why we can't be christians (let alone catholics) instead.

Figures.

(HEY. The book was written by a mathematician AND the prologue's title is "To christians and cretins". How in hell was I meant to resist?)

Oh, and keep your fingers crossed for me. If I'm lucky, I'll post one pic by the end of the day, and two more by Wednesday. I really have to get back into the swing of drawing.

ETA: FUCK! I've got over 10000 visits already! O_o Okay, make that a total of four pics instead of three... anyone who wants to claim the kiriban? :P

ETA2: I just received a txt message, which said:
LAUGH

...

Yeah, I did. Sad, sad, sad. I have friends who may know me too well.

KISSYBOOK PROJECT * It's a book about kissing.

Whoops!

Oh my god, I hadn't realized I was THAT behind with answering comments. ^^; I'll get to it asap!

In the meanwhile... I just checked my yahoo email box, and this spam mail? It might be that I'm listening to Grace Kelly and I'm revelling in a mood of pure optimism at the moment, but it's got to be the BEST thing ever.

...I'm the only person who finds that funny, am I.

Not that it ever bothered me, though. :P

First of all? 'm not fallen off the face of the earth. I owe a few people a few things - 'few' holding the lightest hue of sarcasm - and they're coming. They actually are. Fancy that. *cough*

Second... well, World Champions. :D I saw the match in a big big screen and almost died at least a thousand of times. All of them dutifully notified to [livejournal.com profile] wild_boys - poor woman, if I haven't made her hate her mobile nothing will. ^^; I'd actually planned to post this before the match... I'd also made a stupid five (5) minutes doodle to stamp on the journal. In retrospective, I'm fairly glad I didn't make it in time to post it.

(And? This is the exact occasion when I wish that (a) I didn't live in a hole of a village and (b) the males in my group could take their heads out of their collective arses. Didn't see one of them around. :P)

BUT!

A few days ago, something came to my attention... Totti (poor sod, by the by. If he hadn't got injured that badly, months ago, maybe he'd have played better.) learns English! :D

...it's all too likely that Italians alone will find this truly funny. But, you know. You might appreciate the English!rape side of the matter.

When it wants, it wants
(Quanno ce vò, ce vò)

But make me the pleasure
(Ma famme 'r piacere)

Don't extend yourself
(Nun t'allargà)

Di tutto, di più! :D )

You're welcome to add to the collection ;)

Aaaah, I'd forgot! :D Last week Dad came home with this sheet of paper that he showed me, and I risked death. I was literally wheezing in between bursts of laughing.

If you know a little of C++ it'll probably make you laugh harder. :D

/* Source Code to Windows 2000 */ )

Oh, BUT:

Happy Birthday, Thistlerose!
I saw GoF, and laughed like you wouldn't believe.

Even when I wasn't supposed to.

(But I doubt you're surprised by that.)

Also, chat between me and Nuri, right before me leaving yesterday, and pretty self explaining:

Me: I've been told Krum is rather shaggable.
Nuri: Krum is BIG.
Me: ...
Me: ...
Me: ...
Nuri: Not like that, you pervert.
Has anyone got a spare Time Turner lying about? I'll return it to you, I swear.

Anyway, this is one of the pumpkins, if you were curious. (I'm currently at 21/36. Yep, I had counted wrong last time.)

---

I was browsing through my flist, and at a certain point this:

popped out. (Up. Whatever.) It made me laugh hysterically.

I'm hopeless, I know.
...when, upon opening your umbrella when you're about to go to lunch, you realize you've had it for over a year and a half, without either (a) losing it or (b) breaking it - apart from some minor wounds, that is.

That's a HUGE achievement, that's what it is.

All right. That's all. *cough* Sorry. You can go back to whatever you were doing now.
