I keep going back to it, I know, but there are random things I liked/found funny about Deathly Hallows that I remember every now and then.

One is how Stan ended up being a DE. That lives in the "I found funny" area. Especially when I went back with my mind to the Great Confrontation, in HBP, between Harry and the Minister Of Magic Whose Name I Forget But Definitely Isn't Slughorn.

Another - which still falls under the "I found funny" category - is the mention, at the beginning of the book, of what Sirius' Infamous Bike actually looked like.

Reading that it was one of those sidecar deals?

I SO had this mental image.

I still don't understand if Stan was Imperiused or not *scratch head*

LOL, who would have thought it...Sirius Teh Cool on a sidecar XD

You made me squee with that cap... I only know the Two Fat Ladies thanks to a reference in Gilmore Girls, so glad I have faces and a story to go with it now :P

Hehehe! I did laugh to myself like the psycho I suppose I am when I read that, so it's good to know I made someone else laugh as well ;D

ahahaha! XD oh man, images like that is precisely why i refuse to believe the sidecar was on the original motorbike. it had to be some addition that was put on there for the purpose of the escape.

as cool as sirius is, even he could not make a sidecar badass. so it did not exist in the 70s. nope. :D

To be honest, I stopped paying too much attention to the real canon somewhere along Ootp. I don't think I would have been shocked and/or sad even if it had turned out that Sirius still slept with his teddy bear. And that he had left it to Harry with the rest of the heritage.

In fact, I would have got quite the awesome laugh out of that...

LOL omg that pretty much is the most awesome mental image i've had all day! Sirius and his teddy bear should totally be drawn at some point, yes. :D

Actually, they (Arthur) added the sidecar for this expedition because Hagrid was too big for Harry to ride with him on the seat. (Really, I think you need to draw a picture of Arthur putting the sidecar on and ghost Sirius standing there looking mortified at the prospect! :-P)

As for poor Stan, alas, from the evidence it appeared that he was Imperiused and not a DE of his own free will. Poor Stan. :-P

was that in the book that the sidecar was added? because i have refused to believe that Sirius would have a sidecar on his baby. i guess i didn't read some parts closely enough but it would make me very happy if i knew for sure. :D

It wasn't explicitly stated, no, but back in book one, when Hagrid brings Harry to the Dursleys, there's no sidecar.

Hagrid says to Harry:

"An’ you’re with me, Harry. That all righ’?" said Hagrid, looking a little anxious. "We’ll be on the bike, brooms an’ thestrals can’t take me weight, see. Not a lot o’ room on the seat with me on it, though, so you’ll be in the sidecar."

.... "Arthur’s done a bit o’ tinkerin’," said Hagrid, quite oblivious to Harry’s discomfort.

The latter refers to the spells and stuff he added, but I can't help but believe he added the sidecar too, because they knew 17 year old Harry wouldn't fit on the bike seat with Hagrid, especially with Hedwig's cage and broom and his rucksack to carry. It's a pretty logical conclusion, at least to me. :-P

oh, it's very logical to me as well! ;) see, i didn't think there was a sidecar in book one and i know i went back to read the part where Hagrid first appeared on it to check the description. it didn't say anything about a sidecar but it also didn't get overly specific so i wasn't sure.

i'll just take the fact that you also say the sidecar wasn't there as my irrefutable proof that it was a horrid addition that Sirius would not approve of. *nods*

Ah! I totally missed that part :P I'm telling you, that's quite the relief. ;D

Though DH is a bit less funny now. Alas!

...also because Stan was not a DE either. Awwww, you spoilsport ;D But I forgive you, because oh boy, that's one awesome image. Oh, I can SO see Sirius' face in that.

Oh boy I really really want to do that now...

Well, you know, I'd have loved for Stan to have been a real DE since I wrote a story about how Lucius 'converted' him for Smutmas last year. :-P

You do, do you? Goody! My birthday's in 3 days. (Hahahahaha! Am I subtle or what?!? :-P)

LOL! No, no make and model was ever mentioned. But considering the pics he had in his bedroom, I'm sure he got himself whatever model was the height of cool back in 1976ish. :-P

Oh, did I love that bit. (Oh, do I love your icon.) But I've been reassured that no, Sirius' bike did not have a sidecar before DH, which is comforting. ;D

Hope you don't mind me commenting here. I was just looking at some of your pictures and saw this post. :) (BTW, I'm midnightblue88 on deviantart, too.)

In DH, when they're escaping the Dursleys', Harry notices that Stan looks "strangely blank". Even if it doesn't explicitly state that he was Imperiused, I like to think that he wasn't acting of his own accord. But perhaps that's just the optimist in me. :)

As for the motorbike...I think it's a great idea to draw a picture of ghost!Sirius looking mortified as Arthur attaches the sidecar. XD

Aw no, of course I don't! :D

Ah damn. You know, I think I would have preferred it if he had actually become a DE deliberately, you know? I would have found it more interesting. :D

Hehehehe! I probably will get around to it, then ;D

Well, there are a lot of things that might have been more interesting in DH if they'd been different. I heard that someone wrote an essay (right after HBP came out) hypothesizing that McGonagall could be a spy for Voldemort. Gave evidence and everything. If that would have come to pass (which of course it didn't and wouldn't) then that would have been more interesting and surprising than "OMG, Snape was good all along?!" Of course, I love McGonagall and wouldn't want her to be a bad guy, but still. :)

Oops, got off topic there. But I look forward to seeing that drawing, if you get around to it!

Ah! I love the Two Fat Ladies! They used to show it on my local public broadcast station in the U.S.! I think it might be why I find sidecars hilarious. Sirius = Jennifer and Remus = Clarissa is cracking me up right now.

Oh god. OH GOD, THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT. And now, imagine having the images of Sirius and Remus like that pasted in your minds throughout at least the first three chapters. After that, thank god, I got distracted.

Honestly, and people wonder why I can't take canon seriously. What would be the fun in that?

OMG Two Fat Ladies... Oh Clarissa! Oh Jennifer! Those women rocked. My favorite episode is the one where they lined a bowl with bacon and then loaded it up with chop meat, finishing it off with some kind of lardy crust.

*dies of heart failure just typing that*

We used to make bets on what they'd wrap in bacon next.

Hehehehe! Oh, you're talking with someone who can't even conceive the whole having bacon for breakfast thing. ;P But I loved that show with a passion. They showed it here last year - I was in my room, and wandered to the living room to see what was making my dad and mum both crack up so much.

Heh.

Oh yes, it could scarcely be more different than Italian cooking. I think that's what cracked my parents up about it so much, too! My dad used to watch it incredulously as the ladies made one barely edible-looking dish after another.

Ahaha, Two Fat Ladies. Back when I lived in Austin, I borrowed one of their cookbooks from work and tried to make their flourless chocolate tort. Save for my own general ineptitude, it turned out pretty nice :)

I bet it did! :D I'll have to try to get you to make one for me, if I ever get around to cross the ocean over to y'all ;D

My aunt has a Harley-Davidson and two small children. The elder goes on the back of the bike, the toddler in the sidecar. Sometimes both of them go in the sidecar, as here (faces blurred for privacy):
