[Art] - General Tales of Ordinary Madness
Sep. 3rd, 2007 01:45 pmOh, today is such a great day! Why, you ask? But there's the European Championship of Basket starting today! Oh god, I am THAT excited! Well, apart from the fact that I will have to be at the pub when the match is on. And that the VCR isn't currently set up. And I don't think I've got a VHS I could register it on anyway. BUT WHO CARES! Basketball! Lots of it! On a big screen! I honestly can't wait! I only found out yesterday that it was in Spain, though. :( Maybe, if I'd known before I could have forced persuaded someone of the guys to come to Spain with me and see it live. And maybe get a chance to see Nuri, too, before or after. ;P

Then again, I did have something to keep me occupied these past few days.
(Here I am cackling madly, in a very evil-overlord kind of style. It's doesn't come over too well if you're reading a written text, so I figured it might be worth mentioning.)
(Oh god, if only I could make a job out of being a tease.)
So... do you remember an old entry of mine? The one where I basically went nuts and started talking about incomprehensible projects/plans/whatever? (The first person who says "yeah, okay, we've read your journal, now would you please say which entry you mean" will get a slap under the head.) Refusing then to elaborate further? This one here.
Well, it's ready. And up. And running. (Also away from me. Oh god please make me shut up...)
So, yeah, my idea of a HP tribute for the end of the series is to focus on only two secondary characters, with a heavy accent on an entirely hypothetical romantic relationship between them, as recounted by just one person in the whole fandom - and GUESS WHAT, IT'S THAT PERSON'S BIRTHDAY TODAY.
(Which, yes, is why this day is great at all. :P I do love basket something atrocious and obnoxious, but this is more important. :D)
(Also, see why I didn't want to say which deadline I'd chosen, days ago? Kinda hard keeping it a surprise from her if I had. :P)

I've just finished aforementioned book, and GOOD LORD (nevermind I'm not exactly the religious type) I needed to draw a smile. Badly. So... this. Which is really very much of a sketch.
At first, the image I'd thought of was a Lily, holding a hat to her head with both hands and laughing at the camera. Then... I chose Peter. Mostly because, as I said, Amir reminds me strongly of the idea I have of him. And then... well, I don't think I'll surprise anyone if I say that I strongly disagree from the fandom's take on Peter. It's the very definition of "easy way out". Reality... is pretty much more complex than that.
No worries, I won't start ranting or anything like that.

Notes: Quite some time ago, I came home a bit late and decided to read something before going to sleep. The book I was reading at the time was downstairs, The Value of X had just come home (*g*), so I thought, "well, I might read the first pages."
I stayed up until 5:00 am to finish it.
When I reached the last page (by pure force of will, three quarters of my body were asleep already) (reading in bed will do that to you...), read the last words... I had this sudden, crystal clear image of Gary waiting for Rickey at the airport, a smitten, happy smile on his face. And I realized I had to draw it. (Although my mind, at that, added firmly "NOT RIGHT NOW".)

Snakey has the face of someone who's telling a lewd/stupid story, the kind you hear in bar, and which is usually false, but still plausible enough; Gryff's raised leg might mean he's telling Snakey "come on now!", but the bland expression suggests he's probably wondering whether what he's raising is true or not; the badger has this sufferent/resigned position, like he's sighing to Raven "what are they talking about again...?", but Raven snaps back "don't bother me! can't you see I'm doing yoga?"
I swear I hadn't smoked anything at the time.

The kind of person you end up opening completely up to without even realizing it, no matter how long it can take you with anyone, and you never, ever come to regret it. Peter and Remus

Ok, my english is quite rough, still.. =__= I have to work on that. (And on the "I think"s that are overrunning all the piece..)
Probably it's clear enough, I don't know, but it's from Peter's pov. It wasn't intended to be this way - it started as Sirius talking about Remus post-Gof, then during MWPP days, then I scrapped Sirius altogether - I don't see neither him or James as thoughtful types (I'm not saying they don't want to understand Remus. They just do it, without thinking over it.) So I thought of Peter. He's not one of my fav characters, he's never been, yet I don't agree with the characterization he often get in MWPP fics. He's either a poor, pathetic little thing loathed and alienated by his own friends, or already a evil double crosser. The second one is just impossible, and for a simple reason: Sirius switched with him, yes, because no one would have thought of Peter.. but if this was the only reason, he could have picked up another member of the Order. Don't we forget that James was like a brother, to Sirius; and you entrust with your brother's life only persons you actually trust, and trust a lot.
And, by the way, I don't think Peter able to pretend for such a long time as seven or more years. So, what is he? Perhaps just a little man, scared shitless, probably all too aware of his own scarce possibilities and lack of strenght. And in that he's just like a lot of other people, truth to be told. As far as I know, even I could act like him. I can't be sure I won't. Hell, I don't think I would, and surely I don't absolutely want to, but I've never been in a real, extended danger of life, I've never seen (thanks God) people I know and love fall one by one. I don't want to be like him, but I could be. Fear is a vicious thing.
And I run off on veritable tangents, sometimes. ^^"
