kascheSpamming time! I know I could simply edit the last post, but..
Anyway, a drabble, still post-Shack. This could be somehow related to this one..
"You didn't mean to hurt me." His voice was still cold, still distant.
"No! No! I didn't, I swear, I didn't want to!"
"The point is," went on Remus, voice forbidding and stressing every word, "You did it once, Sirius. There is every chance you will do it again. Who will be next, Sirius? Lucius Malfoy? Oh, but I don't know what use it would be. Given his proximity to Severus, with every chance he already knows."
Sirius was staring at him, jaw slack, eyes hurting. His lips moved as if to form words, but all that came out was some strangled noise.
"I would be very disappointed in you, were you to choose Goyle or Crabbe. I’m inclined to think they don't even know what a werewolf is."
What hurted more, Sirius decided, even more than the flat tone of Remus' voice, was the look in his eyes. One would think he was talking about sodding weather.
"Or maybe Nott. He may have brains enough to get a little fright--"
"STOP IT!" shouted the other, voice quavering. Remus closed his mouth. His eyes shut as well.
"What do you want me to say?"
Sirius would have thought it had been him to talk, for that question was pounding in his mind at that moment, but the voice was too calm to be his own. Too sad, too resigned.
"What do you want me to say, Sirius? What do you want me to do? To smile? To look at you and tell you that everything is forgiven? Friends don't lie to each other, Sirius. But I don't know if we are anymore."
Sirius found himself regretting the cold tone of before, the one cut to hurt. This was a honest one. And some truths are too hard to take.
Both raised their head and looked at each other, gazes oddly similar.
Once again, Remus went past him, shoulders brushing. Sirius' hand went to his arm.
So, what do you think? Honestly?
