All right, I've got the newspaper (the usual) spread out in front of me. (I didn't dress up to go to the newsstand, but it was close. I have a strange conception of pride.)

At 15:00 pm the projections were incredibly positive. But from then on, until 03:00 this morning (I'm not joking), we've all been dying a little on the inside. Head to bloody head all. the. bloody. time.

After dinner I gave up and watched Lost*. When it ended too soon, I went downstairs to help mum and gran make cappelletti (a kind of pasta, in a very approximative way) for the Easter lunch. It's five bloody years that I've been waiting for this day. Needless to say that I've been snapping at anyone and anything in reach.

But now, now I can say, as the votes of the Italians abroad has been counted in as well, that not only the Chamber of Deputies has gone to the Union, but the Senate as well.

We've made it. By a handful of votes - but we fucking did.

We did.

And, STRANGELY ENOUGH, it was only yesterday in the late afternoon that word gets out of a, let's say, strange fact. Gianpiero Fiorani, investigated for trying to make a bid for one of the main Italian banks, Antonveneta, during a questioning has made some excellent names. Some of which are, and I'm quoting from - page 23 of La Repubblica's issue dated 2006/04/11, Silvio Berlusconi in primis, but also Calderoli, Tremonti (Minister of Economy, by the by), Dell'Utri, Previti and Grillo. Amongst others.

I can almost hear Berlusconi's voice say once again, like he did ten years ago, regarding other processes (he has had a lot of those, over the years - if you're wondering, the answer to your question is 'prescription'), "I'm calm and relaxed, at night I sleep like a baby."

I also remember Roberto Benigni replying "As to say that he wakes up every three hours and cries."

* Which has finally started! I've only seen the first handful of episodes. Save the first. ("Hey, there's Lost on Raidue!" "Finally! When does it start?" "Yesterday." "...Oh.") I have to say that there's one pretty boy that has quite caught my eye. When I tried to catch his name, it sounded something like 'Bum' It probably wasn't it. I'll keep on calling him that anyway.

Oh, I am so happy for you. And for Italy... kind of sad this means you won't be coming to live with me (we set the spare room up so nice, even!) but YAY!

:D

I am really all grinning now.

Good Morning!

Oh, Jojo. :D Oh, I wouldn't know, it's never too late. Also considering how Forza Italia still insists they were the ones who won. They're recounting all the votes right now.

No, I'm not joking.

*sigh*

So, see, I might have to expatriate there after all. And I probably wouldn't be even a bit as sad as I should be... ;D

Oh, that's wonderful! I wish things had gone that way in our election. *grumbles* Damn conservatives. (I'm Canadian.)

Oh, I love Lost. Was it the pretty boy in my icon? His name is Boone. :D

It's him! *giggles at "island decoration"* ...but I think I'll keep on calling him Bum. You know, it seems... fitting. And I'm in no way talking of anything that isn't his, ah, aestethic qualities.

Eeeee.

How pleased I am for you, and speaking as a proud American, how ENVIOUS. If only our federal elections were fair and we knew that we could throw these bums and outright crooks in the presidential administration out of office.

I heard one of the winning coalition members on the BBC yesterday. It really is quite amazing that they won. Congratulations.

Sweet Jesus but I love YOU, Oo. HOW.

I'm not staring. I'm not...

Awww.

I want to bite his nose.

Early on he was on an episode of CSI where he plays a revenge seeking drag racer and with the funky lighting and art direction customary to CSI he looked just wild.

Oh! I'm almost glad I've never watched CSI. I was, er, sort of muttering shagme when I was watching a perfectly plain Lost episode. Even before the episode with his and her sister's past. AND I tend to watch these serials with Dad, and, er...

Thank you! :D Oh, that's as close to a certainty as anything can get, especially considering how narrowly we won. But still.

I also am signing up for the Boone love. Although I find it amusing that he wears more makeup than I do. :D

Just read the news on my email providers main page (hadn't dared to look all day), and YES! Senate and parliament! YES! Europe has become a better place over night. *g*

But you know, looking at Berlusconi, it is exceptionally weird by how tiny a margin the Union won.

Strange? Oh, I wouldn't know. Berlusconi had been promising all sorts of tax discounts in the last days. Had the electoral campaign lasted a couple days more he probably would have started going around taking off car fines.
