Jul. 7th, 2003 04:12 pmAnd the ramblings go on. And on, and on.
'Snape's Worst Memory'. Oh, I liked this one. First, because we can see the Marauders' days, and I was really hoping for that. XD Secondly, because I aprreciated the fact that they didn't come out as four pefect boys, all loving, kind, good.. They were boys, after all, they had flaws, and even if I honestly wasn't expecting to see them act like that, I think this had been the right thing to do. The scene leaves you with a bitter aftertaste, anyway.
Third point.. hey, Snape knew already that Remus was a werewolf! Harry was in Snape's memory, right? Then, if the boy listened to the Marauders' conversation, it means that young Snape did it, too. Otherwise, how could it be in his memory? And, come to think of it, then he could also have had suspitions about the Animagi transformations, maybe.. there aren't many ways to explain a sentence like "you run with a werewolf once a month". The issue is: he knows, or he just suspects? Because if he knew, don't we forget that he once was a 'real' DE. Then, why didn't he told the others?
And this leads to another question.. Why Peter didn't speak about the Animagi thing? No, I won't accept as an answer 'because he didn't speak about his own ability'. (Yes, it seems fairly clear he didn't - otherwise he wouldn't have been able to escape and hide for so long. So, he could not have been an active DE. Perhaps he's just the kind of person who doesn't know wich side he belong so he remain in the borderline, and the less he's involved, the better.
Still, he did sold James and Lily to YKW. Probably he thought that the two of them couldn't stand a fight with him, otherwise he wouldn't have risked that much. But now I doubt he had a totally passive role (in other words, I don't think he was forced to become a DE), because he was the only one who could tell YKW that he was Potters' Secret Keeper! Unless one of the other Marauders or Dumbledore spread the news, there was no way any other could know about it!
Oh. I suddenly reminded a scene form the 4th book. When Voldemort called the DEs, Snape didn't show up, right? Surely YKW made a remark about him also.. But if Snape is working as a spy, how did he deal with it? Did he pale (also) because of it?
