This is a day late: but the important thing is not the day itself, I think. Anyway:

THE ULTIMATE SILENCE
October 12, 1998

Six years ago today, Matthew Shepard was murdered for being homosexual.

What will you do to end the silence?

Rereading Ni's post made me think of adding something. Because Matthew Shepard hasn't been the first victim of hate, nor he will be the last. What she said about rejecting hate being part of education is true. I'm afraid that also what she said about a pretty pic not helping much is true. I posted it anyway because, in my opinion, this remains the fastest way to attract the attention on the topic. Drawing attention is good; but thinking "ow, poor guy", then turning to another page, is not really the way to solve the problem. It's also true that I don't have the real solution, either. The only thing I can think of is pimping here the links [livejournal.com profile] spacedye_vest posted on her lj, and asking you if you have any other to add. Thank you.
