I'M ALIVE!
Apr. 23rd, 2008 10:54 amI am!
I swear!
And it's not even like I've been doing all that much - well, aside from the PD meetings. And the rock music contest we're organizing. And classes (+ approaching test). And
rs_games which is trying to kick my ass but I'm still kinda on top of it, albeit barely. And Big Bang, Baby entering the "artists phase". And a number of chores done around and out of the house.
...
Oh, all right...
Come to think of it! Wanna know something? Cloud Cult is good for listening to also when you're washing your car. No, really. I said REALLY! Washed your car is a must, o' course, but Radio Fodder is also quite good.
Okay, okay, part of all the happy was also that it was a warm sunny day. And, ALL RIGHT, Dad also got this "water gun" which is, like, this plastic thing that you attach to the irrigation tube, and shoots water as you pull the trigger, that's reallyfun to play with useful. Yeah. Useful. ...the bad side(s) of listening to high volume music, though, is that (a) you have no idea how loudly (or how off-key) you might be singing along, and (b) if people pass by, you don't notice. Then again, not really all that many people pass nearby my place on early Sunday afternoons. And if they heard me singing aloud about how a miracle is a miracle even when it's ordinary, it's not an eye for an eye but a favour for a favour, how you should suck up, suck up and take your medicine, or how I'm done with all that poop that brings me down, they didn't comment on it. (Or they did and I didn't hear, which amounts to pretty much the same. :P)
...I'll have to wash it again soon, since it got dirty once more with Monday & Tuesday's rain, but. I have the gun! :D I just hope none of my friends will pass by. The temptation to wash them with it will be almost too much to bear. And not quite as fun on the other side, probably. Ahem.
On other accounts? There are few things that delight me as much as seeing someone else being as happily geeky as I can get. :D
AAAAAAAAAND before we leave, a meme!

1. Do I have a distinct style of drawing? (this is like asking "does this make me look fat" isn't it *L*)
2. If so, what exactly is it that defines my "style"?
3. Would you say my art usually follows a 'theme'?
4. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of/look like the style of anyone else?
5. Judging from whatever art of mine that you've seen, what do you think I do the best at?
6. What do you think I need the most work on?

on 2008-04-23 12:15 pm (UTC)Pfft, um, YEAH :) Your work is very distinctive and very easily recognizable.
2. If so, what exactly is it that defines my "style"?
Hmmm. It's hard to explain. It's partly the way you draw your lines- both the texture of them and just how you draw your people. They're a little more stylized than photographic (not at all a bad thing). The line art often conveys more than the shading.
3. Would you say my art usually follows a 'theme'?
Harry Potter? :) That's mainly your stuff that I've seen.
4. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of/look like the style of anyone else?
In fandom- no. Not at all. In "real life", no, but I don't see so much art these days.
5. Judging from whatever art of mine that you've seen, what do you think I do the best at?
Storytelling. I LOVE your more gen art- one of my favorite pieces of yours is "Godfathers", where OotP Sirius and Remus are talking. You get so much expression into people, and do such a fantastic job conveying their emotions and what is going on by both body language and facial expression.
6. What do you think I need the most work on?
This is always a tough question, because I'm not terribly great at critiquing art. But I would say maybe backgrounds?
Whoops. Kids are up. But just thought I'd chime in! :)

I LOVE YOU.
PS: quote from an Exit Wounds review:
The most attractive bits of Torchwood are bloody but unbowed, living to shag another day.

on 2008-04-23 02:23 pm (UTC)Duh. Yes, of course you do. Hang 100 different fan works on a wall and I would know yours instantly.
2. If so, what exactly is it that defines my "style"?
Your materials. The way you shape the facial features of the characters. Use of shading. It's playful without being amateur.
3. Would you say my art usually follows a 'theme'?
Well only in that the majority of your work is related to a fandom, a book series, etc. Theme would be maybe grounded whimsy or some such.
4. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of/look like the style of anyone else?
I have a book of feminist fairy takes which are all illustrated with a single black and white pencil piece. Though still different, that's the closest comparison.
5. Judging from whatever art of mine that you've seen, what do you think I do the best at?
Capturing a split-second emotion within the frame- whether it be laughter, quiet, love, etc.
6. What do you think I need the most work on?
Color? I don't know.

no subject
on 2008-04-23 02:51 pm (UTC)Nope! We're kind halfway through - and some classes have something of a half-term examination (called "exoneration"), on what has been done so far. Entirely optional, but, you know. ;P

on 2008-04-23 02:57 pm (UTC)The length of your semesters mystifies me. Don't you ever get a break?
I have one more week left omgh! Then summer and I have NO CLUE what I'm doing this summer.

2. If so, what exactly is it that defines my "style"?
The fact that it is AWESOME.
3. Would you say my art usually follows a 'theme'?
Boy meets boy. Boy does inappropriate thing with boy! D:
4. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of/look like the style of anyone else?
YOUR MOM! >:0
5. Judging from whatever art of mine that you've seen, what do you think I do the best at?
Making me smile!

MAKING ME PIES! >:0

on 2008-04-23 04:38 pm (UTC)1. Do I have a distinct style of drawing? Definitely!
2. If so, what exactly is it that defines my "style"? Um, pencil & the way you do faces.
3. Would you say my art usually follows a 'theme'? Yes - R/S :)
4. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of/look like the style of anyone else? No one comes to mind.
5. Judging from whatever art of mine that you've seen, what do you think I do the best at? Facial expressions, definitely.
6. What do you think I need the most work on? Um... backgrounds? Although you probably don't need to work at them as much as aren't interested in drawing them, heheh :D

on 2008-04-24 07:54 am (UTC)facescharacters, I tend to be tired enough with the pic that I want it to be done as soon as possible. ;P Not quite the most professional approach to drawing, I'll confess, but still... *g*And AWWWWWWW AREN'T YOU A SWEETIE. <33333

on 2008-04-23 09:12 pm (UTC)Yes, absolutely. How do you think people are able to know who drew your entries for anonymous fests?
2. If so, what exactly is it that defines my "style"?
Well, there's your medium, obviously. Precise lines. Glossy, wavy hair. Well-executed shading (so many people tend to be weak with their shading). Dynamic gestures. Postures that tell the viewer a lot about relationships between characters, and about what's going on in the scene. Vivid facial expressions. Collarbones.
3. Would you say my art usually follows a 'theme'?
Relationships between characters.
4. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of/look like the style of anyone else?
Maybe Robert Doisneau? In that you use postures and glances to tell a story and create humor.
5. Judging from whatever art of mine that you've seen, what do you think I do the best at?
Pieces with more than one character. Humorous pieces.
6. What do you think I need the most work on?
Maybe backgrounds? I like that people are the focus of your pictures. But now that I'm thinking about Doisneau... Locations play a big part in his work, as the spaces in which human interactions take place, you know? Something to experiment with, maybe.

on 2008-04-24 07:59 am (UTC)4. Aaaaaah! Okay, I think I might love that comparison a bit too much ;D Thank you thank you thank you!
6. Oh, yeah. I so agree with you there. I'll have to try and be a little less lazy (...because that's really what it is, when it comes to it. ;P I don't even really know how good I'd be at bg, if I never try adding them. ;P)
As for all the other points-- *TACKLEGLOMPS!*

on 2008-04-24 01:28 am (UTC)2. If so, what exactly is it that defines my "style"? Shading, of course. But on the flip side I think that you use light wonderfully well. Better than anyone I have ever seen.
3. Would you say my art usually follows a 'theme'? Yes, it's joyous. :)
4. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of/look like the style of anyone else? None that I can think of. Goose - you're unique!
5. Judging from whatever art of mine that you've seen, what do you think I do the best at? As I said, you capture joy better than anyone. Every moment is so real and puts a grin on my face, you really are really freaking talented. bitch Who said that??? And teeth! You draw teeth so well, and I find teeth harder than hands, so kudos to you!
6. What do you think I need the most work on? I am drawing a blank. hahahahahahaha - fanartist humor!
*wipes tear*
Hey, I know I'm a dork. THat's half the battle, right?

on 2008-04-24 03:21 am (UTC)2. Shading, lines, boy/boy YUM!
3. It is generally fun to some extent but also really hot in another. Is Marauders a theme?
4. I saw these Michelangelo sketches at the National Art Gallery in Washington DC that when I saw them I actually thought of you *g*. The shading and line were very similar. When I went to Florence what a disapointment I had to look at his sculpture work instead *snicker*.
5. EYES! OMFG! The eyes I could die drowning in the eyes you draw. They are so expressive they can be angry, happy, laughing, loving and sultry.
6. Not even remotely qualified to answer this question, I can not draw, paint, sculpt, nothing. I'm lucky my daughter thinks making snakes out of clay is impressive enough.

Of course you do! ...This is sot of a silly question.
2. If so, what exactly is it that defines my "style"?
Expressive and sensuous faces drawn in pencil! I'm especially drawn to the way you draw faces. <3
3. Would you say my art usually follows a 'theme'?
...Same theme as mine! Which is, sexy men engaging other sexy men in... well, you get the idea.
4. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of/look like the style of anyone else?
Not that I can think of, actually. Your style is your own, and I think that's a very very good thing.
5. Judging from whatever art of mine that you've seen, what do you think I do the best at?
FAAAAAAACES. And mouthes. I think the attention and care is so evident in the expressions that you draw. You're so dedicated to getting it exactly right, and I think you often get it exactly right. Your men are so handsome, I want to kiss them! : *
6. What do you think I need the most work on?
Ummmmm, drapery maybe? Folds in clothes. ...Except upon reflection, you're really pretty good at that too, aren't you? ;)
