Apr. 24th, 2008 01:06 pmAaaaaargh! I'm an ass. D: I entirely forgot to the gifts I have received! Quickly done:
The Triumph of Time (Bill/Remus), by
celandineb (NWS)
Necessary Supplies (Remus/Sirius), by
xylodemon (NWS)
...both NWS, since apparently all I sign up for lately are smutty exchanges. What is the world coming to, I wonder...
Allllllso, The Dark Tower.(Wow, but I'm spamming like mad today.) (I'd started writing the entry yesterday. ;P)
So, I've listened to The Gunslinger's audiobook - which was all right, I guess? In an unremarkable kind of way? I don't hate it, but I wasn't head over heels for it either. It was maybe - too much western-like for me? I don't really know. The relationship between Jake and Roland is the cutest thing, though. I really liked them. ♥
Then I started The Drawing of Three, and woah! It made a totally different impression! The way it opened worked so well for me - I was so captivated by the lobstrosity scene, that I didn't realize it was 1:30 (a.m., I mean) until I checked the clock. And it didn't happen just then! And awwwwwww, EDDIE. I have such a soft spot for him! There was something weird about seeing him straight, but aw! I love you all the same!
I can't wait to be home to start the next one in the series ;D Even though, if I hear one more time that the world had moved oooohhn I might not be able to keep from gigglesnorting. I mean. I understand the pathos, I do, but.
...anyway, I'm realizing that I tend to eat up audiobooks like I'm starved. When I'm walking, when I'm drawing, when I'm eating, I'm even ironing more because of them (it's the kindof brainless activity that's the perfect complement to audiobooks), anytime I don't have to use my brains or actually concentrate on anything you will find me with my headphones on. Of course, it also causes potentially embarrassing moments - try listening to a funny bit when you're inside a public bathroom - but it's all in good fun anyway. *g*

Dad-a-chuck?
on 2008-04-24 01:11 pm (UTC)Ha, I feel weirdly guilty when I get other people into The Dark Tower, because it's a very flawed series, and then they have to put up with a lot of weirdness and stuff like "the world had moved onnnn" ...But when it's good, it's REALLY REALLY GOOD. And thing with me is that I sort of have an unconditional love for it anyway. (I fell in love with the characters, which is what ALWAYS happens. :B)
Edit: I forgot to use my Roland/Eddie icon. ;)
Dum-a-chum?
on 2008-04-25 01:28 pm (UTC)Hehehehe! It is flawed, but it's not a bad kind of flawed, you know? ♥ It's the kind that makes you smile at most, but doesn't really bother you. And definitely doesn't stop you wanting to come back for more. ;D
Dad-a-chee!
on 2008-04-25 01:56 pm (UTC)And I WAS sad at Henry's death! ;_; Sad just to see him brought so low, you know? And yes, he was sort of terrible to Eddie and messed him up pretty bad, but it's obvious that they really really loved each other in spite of all. In fact, I think that's really the charm of the series in general. I love the way that the characters love each other. Gee, I wonder what other series I'm obsessed with where the characters really love each other??? *uses g-man icon*
And you know, I love hearing about Eddie's childhood. <3 He's a smartass, but really such a sweet kid.
*Honor Stance*
on 2008-04-26 09:48 pm (UTC)Omg. The way Eddie keeps stuffing his foot in his mouth (http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/1706/eddiesr1.jpg) is TOO ENDEARING FOR WORDS. And poor Jake! I've reached the point where he's just found the riddle book (when is a door not a door? ;P), and I keep wanting to hug the poor boy. ...and have him reach the others, too. Oh, I can't see him like this!
Oh damn I love them all so much. <33
Re: *Honor Stance*
on 2008-04-27 04:35 am (UTC)...Bruni, have I told you lately that I love you? I have? Well I have to tell you again, because it is NEVER ENOUGH with us! <333
Augh, and the part with Roland and Jake and their poor muzzy heads is so sad! ;^; I reread it not long ago...
As for Eddie's foot-in-mouth problem... Ha. I get an attack of the giggles every time he makes a lame joke and it's immediately followed by "Roland ignored him".
Heehee.
Re: *Honor Stance*
on 2008-04-27 01:00 pm (UTC)OMG YOU BET IT'S NEVER ENOUGH! <333333 All that and more right back atcha! ♥
No, seriously. I see Jake going around town, and I find myself cheering him on. ;D And Eddie with his carved key! When he shows it to Roland! Oh how I love him. (Them. Awkward love! ♥) Every second that passes by, I want to hug him more. ;D
Hehehehe! Yesyesyes XD and sometimes I even giggle because of the joke itself. :P
OMGLOVE.
Re: *Honor Stance*
on 2008-04-27 01:28 pm (UTC)....any more pics/comics from you AT ALL would lead to a fatal amount of glee, on my part. (But hell, I'd die happy, wouldn't I???) AND WOULDN'T YOU KNOW. There's now a comm to post such things in! *gaaasp* WHO KNEW!?!? 8D
Ach, Eddie and his key! He has such a hard time with it, thanks to Henry's voice in his head, but oh. Oh, the part where he gives it to Roland to hold. ;^; *snifflesniff* (Ha, I love it when Eddie and Suze sit on either side of Roland, and he's like... "are you my lovers or my jailers?" -_- " <333
...And Jake about town is wonderful. I just sorta like hearing obscure details about everyone's lives, you know?
Re: *Honor Stance*
on 2008-04-27 07:39 pm (UTC)Omg! Then I'll have to avoid drawing them! I DON'T WANT YOU TO DIE!
OH YES. The amazement in his voice? It did my little heart good, just thinking the effect it would have on Eddie. OMGOMGOMG. <33333333333 (Hahaha! The jailers! That was good. XD)
And speaking of funny bits - in the Drawing of Three, in Balazar's office, the bit with one of the guards thinking about wanting to outlive the bitch and the mother-in-law? Did you laugh at that? I DID.
I TOTALLY KNOW! I've been eating up all the new details about their lives pre-Roland. And I want more more more! <3
*SHAMELESS SQUEEFACING*
Re: *Honor Stance*
on 2008-04-27 09:04 pm (UTC)...speaking of which SOMEONE NEEDS TO STEAL THE ONE YOU'RE USING NOW OMG I LOVE YOU. *takes*takes*takes* You're tricky with the icons too, you are!
Haha, and outliving the bitch and the mother-in-law!! XD Gawd, don't I just love the little details like that! Priceless.
Also Roland/Eddie, yesplease. They're like a goddamned comedy routine most of the time, but then then can be very sweet. <3
Re: *Honor Stance*
on 2008-04-29 01:41 pm (UTC)OH YES. That ws a bit I was listening to while in public... oh the pain at not being able to laugh aloud!
Also Roland/Eddie, yesplease. They're like a goddamned comedy routine most of the time, but then then can be very sweet. <3
AAAAAAAAAAAH truest words were never spoken. OMG the key freakout! Oh! Oh! Oh! The hug at the end! I was DYING of the squee!
...just like when Jake first meets Eddie & bro. At the mention of the name Henry, I really did let out a silent squeal - meaning, I did all the facial movements, but sans the voice. ;P
AND TEXTED SOMEONE STRAIGHT AWAY BECAUSE I COULDN'T KEEP THE LOVE TO MYSELF ANYMORE. Dude. Duuuuuuuuuude.
