Hi!

Hi everybody, I'm back! =)

Come on now, don't make those faces, I know that deep down you're all happy to see me. =P And thanks for the comments you left me when I was leaving!

So, what did I do the past few weeks.. Well, when I wasn't asleep (and I don't think I ever slept as much as those first days) I was outside, I learnt how to make homemade tagliatelle (mwahaha.), I giggled quite a bit when I heard Jojo's song on the radio (especially after I read somewhere that her favorite singer is Britney Spears. Jo, admit it, it's yours as well.), I found out that getting the iron anywhere near my hair no matter the heat is just another form of slow, painful, sweaty suicide, and that playing beach volley without any form of pseudo-training before leaves you aching for days (and makes the laughing stock for your friends and parents - really, as soon as I told my dad where I was going he burst out laughing. So hard that he made me laugh, too), I babysat my nine years old cousin (bringing me to rethink the bit about having children, in a possible future), I relaxed in general, and I didn't go to London. Yeah, I stayed home. I'm head over heels with happiness. (Oh, this subtle sarcasm.)

But I'm not that angry about it either, because I can't really blame anyone. I would have been going with a friend, and we were going to stay at the place of a friend of his; only, this friend had to be in Italy by the end of the month, because of her brother's wedding. Plus, she was waiting for her boss to give her some days off, since she had to move to her new flat. But it seems that her boss didn't. Oh well, there will be another chance..

No, I've not been completely out of the world lately, but I'm not going to say anything on what happened. Maybe too much there would be to say, and surely too much has already been said. (Even if I honestly expected worse: the general Italian tendency towards melodrama didn't bode well.) I've read things that made me feel so ashamed, for the simple fact that I share the man's same nationality, and others with which I agreed. But- well. I'm not going to add anything else.

Hehe, I've also been questioned (in jest =P) over my 'patriotism', since during the Olympics I only kept track of our basketball team.. and God, I think I lost five years of life only during the matches against Serbia and Brazil. And the first against Argentina! Gah, during the second match against them, we just weren't there. *sigh* We accomplished quite a lot anyway, so I can say I'm happy all the same.. :3 But I SO wanted to see some of Bulleri and Pozzecco's inventions!! And Basile! And Galanda! Gah.
(A funny thing I noticed, though, is that Italian and Argentine surnames are really very similar! I had no idea.)
And I also have to say that Basile, apart from being a great player, is also very, very attractive.. as long as he keeps his mouth shut. =P Pozzecco made me laugh more than once during some of the post-match interviews. XD
Oh, I so love basket. I couldn't quite keep the smug "told you so" smile from my face, when I saw people around me starting to pay attention to it, too. =)
Anyway, I'm all for a triple umpiring, instead of a double one.

On other accounts, I also read a bit. For instance, I finished Kilbrack, and here's my obligatory quote date.

He glanced at his third cousin, and her fingers wringing her napkin. She was crying. 'Why, Verity,' he said. 'You are crying.'

'I didn't mean to cry, Valentine.'

'Nonsense, Hope. The eyes need a good rinsing every now and then. I beg you, though, not to agonize quite so distractedly over the bats. It is not their extermination I have in mind, only their pacification.'

'It's Livia,' said Mrs Cuthbert, dabbing at her eyes with her napkin. 'I fear she's not interested in men.'

'Perhaps,' he mused, 'she should consider zoology as a career. Anthropology, it seems to me, is a very narrow discipline, unrewarding both materially and spiritually. However, there is a great call in these parts for specialists in the ways of bats. She might be off on the pig's back, as the country folk hereabouts would have it.'

Mrs Cuthbert shook her head into her napkin. 'I think she might be an avocado,' she said.

'An avocado?' repeated Valentine Brack. It quite shocked him out of his preoccupation. 'Avocado?'

'You know,' said Mrs Cuthbert. 'Avocados. Women who prefer, you know...'

'Don't be ridiculous, Patience. You mean lesbians.'

'Do I?'

'Lesbians: women of a homophilic nature.'

'Well, I don't know. I get them confused. Lesbians and avocados: they both seemed to arrive in Ireland at the same time.'

Tell me who didn't laugh here..!

I don't think I ever wrote an entry this long. So! Tell me anything I missed!

[ETA] And.. well, I was about to say I haven't been completely idle, showing you some images as an evidence of this, but I only have one and I drew it before leaving, (and this phrase should be shorter,) so it doesn't really count, does it? I also wrote a bit, but.. I need to reread it. Yeah, it happens sometimes. Would you have told? =P

The pic is lovely :)

I'm sorry that you couldn't make it to London, best luck next time. At least you have time to relax and have fun and all.

But I'm glad you're back online, you were missed. *hugs*

I'll read your ficlet letter. You writing puppies is good.

I'm love with your icon. I'm also feeling a sudden, unexplained need of a cup of tea.

*hugs you back* Thank you. ^^

Oh, another thing I'm way more sorry for is that I couldn't see Diarios de Motocicleta!! What is worse is that it's also my fault, since the movie was going to be displayed just one day, and I got the day WRONG. So, I'm waiting for it to be available for rent. I hope it will be soon enough, because I WANT to see that film!

Thank you for the pic! :D It should be the lineart for my first kiriban. Given that I will ever color it. ^^"

Oh, that your time in reading it. I just saw that I left two huge mistakes in the first sentence, and I even left out a whole phrase. ^^" Oh joy.
