The book meme! (blame [livejournal.com profile] wild_boys.)

1) Total number of books owned:
693 . I counted the ones (visible) in my room, and in the living room's library. The is because, in the latter, of the last two shelves I counted only the books on the front row, since I didn't really want to take out and climb on the ladder. So there's probably some 20-40 more. (ETA: I didn't remember that my childhood books are all stacked in the attic. So there's probably a couple of boxes to add to the count.)

2) The last book I bought:
Hmm... that would be "The curious incident of the dog in the night-time". No! No, it was "Orlando", last week. I had forgotten I'd bought it. I have to read it yet.

3) The last book I read:
Specify "read". If it's "read for the first time", then it's the aforementioned "The curious incident bla-bla-bla." If it includes also the "reread" category, then I've started "Monsieur Malaussene" last Sunday. I'm rereading the whole Malaussene arc... I'd let pass too much time. Now at least I can remember where "Executions always take place at dawn, so to rip off you a life plus a day" came from (La Petite Marchande De Prose), and I'm about to reread another part I've loved but which I'm not posting here for sake of brevity. (Oh, ha ha.) But I'm told the English translation isn't that good..?

4) Five books that mean a lot to me.
*blinks*

Um, well.

Is that tough.

  1. Pennac's. All of them, also because in my mind they are a whole. I discovered him back in 1994 and never stopped loving him.

  2. Lord of the flies.

  3. Well, At Swim Two Boys. Which, I think, is the first book I've read directly in English, too.

  4. The Persian Boy and The Last of the Wine, considered as a whole, since I read them one after the other.

  5. HP 3 and 4. (as in "part of a whole" once again, which includes the first four books. The fifth is on its own, it's completely different from them.) I was about to forget them, but that wouldn't have been fair.

And they're probably not even the right choice. If possible, that was even harder than the music meme was. Also considering that I find so hard to say anything about them, way more than what I did with the music.

And, well. I wanted to write something about my childhood books. Save the fact that, right now, I can only remember the Neverending Story and Momo. And, well, Mickey Mouse (as in the comics, Topolino. Hey, I grew up with it.) (Try to say "and it shows." You just try. ;) ) (Oh, and by the way, when I was little I even drank water from Lourdes. (You know, the one they sell in little Madonna-shaped plastic bottles.) So, either a. it didn't have any effect, or b. holy things work backwards on me, or c. I could have been even worse then this. Yes. It's possible. Now shut up.) Now I don't remember anymore what I wanted to say.

5) Tag 5 people to fill this out on their LJs.

Everyone who wants to! I'd love to hear what, say, Ni or Jo would say, but honestly, I'm curious about anyone of you. :)

I was thinking... is there some sort of books-database, along Imdb's guidelines?

--

Ni! I've been trying to answer your emails... but the site isn't working, it doesn't let me log in. *insert random curse here* I'll try again later, or at worst I'll send it tomorrow. :(

--

And gah, but it's hot outside, and I'm long sleeved and with no sunglasses. So, if you see a penguin (well, I'm not dressed that much, actually) going around squinting, that's probably me. Heh! Looks like I haven't been so much of an optimist ("You're a pessimist," said Rabdomant. "No, just a well-informed optimist." Postel-Wagner replied.) as I'd thought this morning. :)

Ma lo sai che mi piace? Incantevole in particolare. E se non fosse per quel pezzo strumentale in mezzo, anche Gasoline mi piace parecchio. E L'Odore.

Cmq il giuoco del coniglio è qui: http://multimedia.honda-eu.com/diesel/game/deploy/game.html
E qui ti ho messo uno zippone con gli mp3 di "the Secret of Monkey Island" (no midi, proprio mp3! Bellizzimi :'D) - magari gia ce li hai, boh.

Gasoline, Terrestre, Dormi e la prima non le posso sentì... XD;
In definitiva, questo album - che i più snobbano, io non ce lo vedo tutto 'sto giro al commerciale, ma boh - mi piace QUASI tutto... un record. XD

693? Wow!

I LOVE Orlando! Such a wonderful book!

Momo is the cutest thing ever, and Neverending Story is a superclassic.

Don't worry about that, my emails were silly one-liners, you weren't online and I needed to babble about it :) I was so proud on your behalf.

Well, they're all the ones I've found at home, so this isn't really saying much. ^^; And I've surely not read all of them, far from that.

Hmm, something is telling me that I should start Orlando right away. :D

Momo! Aww, Momo. I was so sad when I reached the last page, I did not want it to end. (Same goes for NS, in fact. But I had the luck of seeing the movies before reading the books. That way the movies just supplied some images, and did not ruin the feeling I got from it.)

I was so proud on your behalf.
*squeezes* You're too sweet, too too sweet- and, you know? I'm really starting to think of you as of my Art Godmather. *laughs*

LOVE YOU!

Is The curious incident of the dog in the night-time any good? I've eyed it a few times at book stores.

Hehe! Well, it was a nice read. :) There were some parts I've found quite amusing, especially the one about prime numbers. :D

And, well, it's about an autistic child with a deep love for Maths. How could I not read it? XD
