(no subject)
Mar. 17th, 2006 12:15 pmSo, as you'd probably put together on your own, the Bruni did have a flu. In fact, when she went home Monday afternoon and checked her temperature, it might even have been 38,5 °C.
Hmm. I had thought the not-standing-properly and the teeth-chattering weren't very good signs. At least I've never fainted yet before reaching 40 °C. :P
So, since being confined to a bed is boooooring, drawing in this position is too hard to get anything done, and honestly, no matter how much I love reading, I can only do it for so long, you get a survey I stole by the cutest
monophobia ever.
100 questions for an artist
1)General stuff
Q1: What's your HN(handle name)?
Either Kasche or Lady Belial. I've vaguely thought from time to time about changing the first in the last. On lj, I mean. But you know, it seems just a waste of money. Not to mention that (a) I've grown used to it, and (b) short is good. For me. At least in this case. DO NOT SAY A WORD.
Q2: Why do you call yourself that?
The first, simply because I'd been rereading the manga with that character when I got my lj, and I always sympathize with idiocy. (Guess why.) Not to mention that I'm unable to come up with a cool name/title if my life depended on it. The second comes from another manga, and you know the funny part? I chose it because of something the character said that had struck me, and now I don't even remember what it was. (It was borrowed! I couldn't go back to check.I don't even remember which volume it was in.) But honestly? I prefer to be called by my real name. I've had people address me with either of the above, and it feels this side of weird. ^^;
Q3: Do you use a Mac or a PC?
Pc.
Q4: What program do you use to do your pictures?
If word got around that I use Photoshop just to scan the pics and sometimes crop/resize them, I would be laughed at. In fact, I should be laughed at.
Q5: Do you use a tablet or a mouse?
The few times I do, I use a tablet. Other thing I should be laughed at for.
Q6: What colours do you use a lot?
BWAHAHAHAHA! Greys. All sorts of. Sometimes even black! Oh god I suck.
Q7: What area of the pictures do you put most effort into?
The face. Eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth are the parts that tend to receive more attention. ...also because I regularly forget to put a damn handkerchief under my damn hand when I draw, and since they're the first part that gets done they always get more or less smudged, and I have to practically redo them from 5 to 19938348378 times.
Q8: About how long does it take you do finish each picture?
About a week, I think. If I have the change to work on them steadily, about a couple of days tend to be enough. If it's a particularly good day, then an afternoon.
Q9: Do you keep your rough drafts?
Man. I own NOTHING but rough drafts. I'm just bold enough to make them pass as the real thing.
Q10: What special effects do you often use?(photoshop)
Special quote: SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE FOR PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO USE THEM! (I adore that girl.)
Q11: What size do you colour your pictures in?
Mmmh. I hardly ever plan beforehand, but it's rare for me to cover more than half a A4 sheet. I'm willingly ignoring the word "colour", of course.
Q12: Do you do anything else when you're drawing pictures?
Listen to music and swear.
Q13: About how many pictures do you draw in a month?
...depends on how many birthdays there have been. ^^; Or challenges I've signed up for. There's nothing to do, if I'm doing something just for myself, it's a matter of seconds before I lose interest.
Q14: What paper do you use to draw on?
...any sheet that's blank enough.
Q15: What material do you use when working on paper?
A mechanical pencil. Which is half broken, come to think of it. AND LOTS AND LOTS OF RUBBER. I have recently rediscovered the joys of the Kneaded Putty Rubber, though - I remember having one already at about 12 years old. I think I only used it to model a little doll. But it was lots of fun! I should try it again.
Q16: How long does it take to ink something?
If I remembered the last time I've inked something, I sure would tell you.
Q17: Do you do doujin's?
Never tried. Read a lot of them, though. :P
Q18: What did you like most about doujin?
The hot gay love. :P And the chefs! XD But wait, that wasn't a doujinshi...
Q19: Ever submitted anything to a magazine?
I don't think I ever did, you know?
Q20: Did any of those submissions go through?
...guess?
2) Things you like
Q21:Favorite artist?
Oh, if I were to answer throughly , this would be another long answer. But since this would take extremely long, I'm just going to mention the latest two that have caught my attention. It's a fact that I FANGIRL Taztooed and Ellaine like nobody's business. And this is something else I love to pieces.
Q22: Favorite anime/manga?
Berserk, Nana, Akira, 3x3Eyes/Trinetra, Mars, ES, X/1999, Touch. These are the ones I can think of right now. They all took my soul and returned it a little worse for the wear.
Q23: Any characters from those anime/manga that you really like?
*gaping* I have to list one for each of them...? Oh well. Serpico. From the second, I love how there isn't one character that you can hate, not even Takumi, and I do have this huge soft spot for Nobu. Then, Kaneda. The sanzhiyan. (;P Oh all right, Yakumo too, let's be fair.) Both Rei and Maki, but not together. Shuro. SORATA. Tatsuya. Are we all right now?
Q24:An artist that you'd like to draw like?
I'd give my left hand to be able to use colours the way Linn or Nassima do. (I'd give my right, but then I wouldn't be able to draw at all, so...)
Q25: Any magazines that you buy a lot?
Well, XL (a local music/movies/stuff magazine). As for mangas, by now I only follow regularly Berserk and Nana.
Q26: Books that have been used as a good reference?
Er. It's likely I haven't gotten the question right, but... Have I ever used regular books as reference? I honestly don't remember. I've done my share of fanfic illustrations, though. I think the authors I've "drawn" the most are Minx and Jojo and Cate. ♥
Q27: Any video games you enjoy?
Oh dear GAWD, I bless/curse whoever it was that showed me the joys of Scumm VM. It's been the end of me.
Q28: A character from those games that you really enjoy?
GUYBRUSH IS MY HERO!
Q29: Favorite writer?
Pennac. Oh, honestly. Like you're surprised.
Q30: Any books you really enjoy?
As in genres? Well... I wouldn't know. I don't really make distinctions, I read anything. Save for trashy romance novels, that is. They kill the sap in me like nothing does. They make it shrivel up, quiver, beg and only then die a pitiful death. But if I have to pick up a favorite... I'm not head over heels for mystery novels per se, but I do like when in stories things are not what they seem. And when it stays this way until the end.
Q31: Do you write your own stories?
I have the tendency to imagine backgrounds for each sketch I draw, no matter how poor. That's why there often are captions under them, or why I enjoy drawing fanfic illustrations. It's just... pics are like photographs, aren't they? There's always a story behind. Even in the occasions when the characters are posing.
Q32: Any music that you often listen to while drawing?
No favorites, whatever catches my ear at the time.
Q33: Any songs/music that you'd recommends to others?
You don't want to get me started here.
Q34: Any websites that you totally admire?
Uuuuuh... uh? You have me baffled here. Mostly because I've just realized I haven't visited any website that isn't lj or devart-and-similia in the last millennium. Hm. I have to say I like the restyling Barbara did of her Iocane Powder, (yes, I know that was ages ago,) and the one Ofelia worked on Nelshael (ages ago as well). And the way Serena put up The Folly's Lounge. I'm sure there have been other websites that have left my mouth hanging. I've just visited them too much time ago for me to still remember what/where they were.
Q35: Any sites that you go to every day?
Livejournal. Oh, and deviantart too, though a bit less often.
Q36: What kind of webpage do you wish you had?
...a webpage at all?
Q37: Do you like your own art?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh god I'm holding my belly.
Q38: What do you enjoy watching on TV?
Mmmmh... Che Tempo Che Fa. :)
Q39: Favorite celebrity?
Jake Gyllenhaal. I haven't fangirled an actor this bad ever since Indiana Jones. And I was 8 at the time.
Which is a lie, because how could I have forgotten the way I had got at... 13, was it?, for David Duchovny. Oh dear oh dear. It wasn't pretty.
Q40: Favorite colour?
Blue! And (a lot of) the shades thereof.
3) Your opinions
Q41: Favorite food?
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeets. Any kind. (Save for Panna Cotta.)
Q42: Favorite drink?
CoffeeeeEeeEe.
Q43: Any stores you visit often?
Wellll... la Libreria L'Altra. (The Other Bookshop.) This pretty little shop I think is called La Fate (The Faeries). Sisley's. Soho. Can't think of others.
Q44: Do you like to cook?
It's fun! :D But maybe that's because I don't do it every day. And unexpectedly making tagliatelle at times requires a bit of muscles. Which, unless it escaped your notice, I really don't have...
Q45: What mailing service do you use?
The Italian one. Seeing as it's my country and all. ;P And insofar, surprise of surprises, nothing I ever sent abroad got lost. (Though some things I sent within borders did.)
Q46: What kind of computer do you use?
Right now, I'm on an Ibm laptop.
Q47: Would you like to be a professional artist?
Ah, if only.
Q48: Any other jobs you're interested in, besides an illustrator?
Whatever, actually, as long as I can live on it. I've never been an ambitious kind of person. Proud, hell yes. Ambitious, not much, no.
Q49: Any other hobbies besides drawing?
Reading, poking people, joking on everything and everyone, myself included, shouting singing very loudly in cars, especially when you're in company and you're not the one driving, glomping unsuspecting friends, watching movies that are incomprehensible until the last five minutes and then being unable to stay still because damndamndamnyou'vefigureditout, reading slash, which is its own category thankyouverymuch, being generally silly. Instead of stupid. Hm. Yes. I think that's it.
Q50: Do you like movies?
Hm, I do. I don't watch them often, though.
Q51: What's your favorite movie?
Oh, hard to say. I've loved Donnie Darko (and that was long before starting to fangirl the man), Fight Club, La Meglio Gioventù (The Best of Youth, you have heard me recommending it), and last Tuesday I've seen Otomo's Akira. Yes, the movie. The thing must have been amazing to look at in a cinema. (Oh, Tetsuo. My head throbbed in sympathy.) I liked it, although I remember loving the manga much more. I should still have it somewhere upstairs...
Q52: What do you use to colour your pictures when it's on paper?
HAHAHAHAHA! CWC! As in, Colour? What Colour? (Colored pencils, those few times. Very few and far between.)
Q53: When did you start drawing seriously?
Why, have I started drawing seriously? How long has it been? A year and a half, maybe? Two years? Something like that.
Q54: Have you ever entered art contests?
If I'm not wrong, only once. It was a lot of fun, even thought I should have worked harder on the thing. :D
Q55: Anything that you often use as a reference?
Any reflecting space.
Q56: Do you have many online friends?
I think so, yes. AND I have the best ones, so you all bow to my big fat luck!
Q57: Do you have many online friends who like to draw?
*scratches head* not that many, I think.
Q58: What time of the day are you usually online?
Either morning or afternoon. When I'm truly naughty, both.
My conception of naughty clearly isn't your conception of naughty.
Q59: Do you go to chatrooms a lot?
Mmmm... nope.
Q60: Do you have your own computer?
Yup.
4) Thoughts
Q61: What would you say to the person you admire?
Chances are I'd be so nervous I'd say a thousand phrases at once. So much so that neither them nor me would be able to tell what I've said, exactly. And then I'd giggle nervously and say "All right, going to dig my grave now, spiffy meeting you, bye."
Q62: At what kind of situations are you glad you were able to draw?
Well, truth to be told, when I manage to do something funny. It's a treat seeing people laugh and knowing it's because of you. Which doesn't apply just to this, obviously enough.
Q63: Situations where you aren't glad that you liked to draw?
When the things I do are total crap. Which is a lot of the time.
Q64: Do you have many offline friends who like to draw?
...
I can think of... one.
Q65: Where do you like to hang out when you're with friends?
Bowling. We don't go there often, barely twice in the last year, but it's fun. Especially because I don't know how to play. Any excuse not to have to be competitive is fine by me. :D
Q66: Do you have any artists that you don't like too much?
Q67: Situations in which you really don't like being online?
When I totally shouldn't be? Online, I mean?
Q68: Situations in which you like being online?
I'm rather used to be online when none of my friends are. So I really like when I leave comments around, not expecting to get replies yet, and then, poop!, I do. :D ..so I startspamming chatting.
Q69: Something that makes you really glad that the internet exists?
That's easy, the people I met here. :D And let's not forget the wonderful stories I've read, too. It took a while to find them, though. ;P
Q70: What about things that make you NOT glad that the internet exists?
Well, considering the latest facts happening here, I'd really say the use pedophiles have made of it.
Q71: What's the first picture you've ever shown to the public online?
I think it was a sketch of Nerissa, a character of
fusei's. It was quickly done, with a pen, during a conference with a poet (Luzi? Was it him?) who had got a prize. I remember being extremely nervous about it.
Q72: Do you still have that picture?
Yes. In the hard drive of my pc at home. If you're thinking of asking anything...
Q73: Has your drawing style changed a lot?
Yes, I think so. I hope so.
Q74: How does it usually change?
For one thing, I think it got a little more volume. (Using shadows is known to do that, in fact.) And... they look less like aliens...? Hopefully?
Q75: Have you experienced artists block before?
Yeah. I tried drawing anyway. It was BAD. I'm seriously considering redoing stuff from those periods.
Q76: How did you escape from it?
Kept drawing and waited from someone to physically prevent me from doing it? ...hopefully with an ax?
Q77: What happens when you have artists block?
I can't draw. I just can't. It's not about not having ideas, is being even more inept than usual at putting them on paper.
Q78: Any artists that have influenced you a lot?
Let me think... well, one of those is surely Fuyumi Soryo. Sirius' hairstyle comes from her. :D I think I've taken something from Miura too. Other than that, I wouldn't know.
Q79: What made you like drawing?
Well - when I see the vague images in my head take an actual form under my hands. The moment when you think that it could come out something actually good.
Q80: What made you want to get a website?
Guess my devart account counts here, as I don't have a real website. Well... you know, devart looked shiny. And what with me being a monkey, I could end it here. But honestly? I had thousands of hesitations before getting it. I had nothing much to show, and what I had wasn't anything to be proud of. Then I thought "oh fuck it, who cares anyway" and clicked where I had to click just for the hell of it.
5) Finally...
Q81: Why did you name your site what it's called?
If I had a website and I had it named, I would tell you. :P The few times I've considered the idea, though, one of the ideas was "The Kingdom of Lost Objects", I think. Or maybe it was the Realm. Or Lost Treasures. I don't know, I just liked the idea.
Q82: What do you think about net manners?
That they should be respected?
Q83: Have you ever been spammed?
I don't know if it was enough to be cataloged as spam, but I got a handful of flames, on Artistic Alley. And I think the number of people who take as much fun out of it as I do is rather low. I don't know why, but I really find it this side of amusing, you know? It's a pity they're always anonymous. A good one was "OMG what are you doing that's GAY!", that made me giggle for the better part of an hour, all the while thinking "Naaaah, really?" :D
Q84: Ever thought about quitting your webpage?
Had I ever had one, maybe I would have...
Q85: If so, why?
But wait, if by webpage we also mean lj, then the answer is yes, and the reason is that I spend too much time here. ...which couldn't be any less related to an art meme.
Q86: About how much KB is each picture?
Do you think I know? At best I check that it isn't too big for the screen. ...and not even every time.
Q87: When creating your site, do you use a program or pure html?
I HAVE to quote Barbara. Pure html is for winners!
Q88: Do you have good eyesite?
Nope, not at all. But Contact Lenses are my Saviours! Now I don't mind so much, but I used to hate glasses with such a passion. One time, when I had conjunctivitis on one eye and therefore couldn't wear the lens there, I went out only wearing the other one. And once I went out without either. Well, I was sixteen, after all. And I had a friend beside me, so I didn't really run the risk to be run down by a car. :P
Q89: If you can get any person's autograph, who's would you get?
Uuuuh...Maybe Miura's. Or Adachi's. Or Apapa's.
Q90: Have you ever been asked for your autograph?
Hahaha! Oh god, once I have, a lot of time ago. :D I was seated in front of a bar with
sori_chan and
fusei, and Melissa comes out with a "my sister wants an autograph of yours", with a look that said a lot on what she thought of it. :D It took a lot of convincing ("This is stupid" - "I know, but you sign"), but I ended up holding a pen and a little square of paper. The space left on the paper for the sign itself wasn't much, not after I was done with the, er, introduction. I do get carried away when it comes to rambling.
Q91: Do you have any fans of yourself?
It would seem so, and tell you what, it's embarrassing as all hell. It just doesn't make sense, you know?
Q92: Do you like to oekaki?(paint-bbs)
Never have. I'm always either on dial-up or in places where I don't feel comfortable drawing. Am also vaguely afraid that people will make fun of me. :P
Q93: Are you good at art(as in the school subject)?
I was, yes. :) We get art classes only for three years, in "Medium School" (goes from 11 to 13 years old), but I remember fondly both the classes and the teacher, I liked her a lot. :D In High School it was just Art History. Well, if anything in the last year there was a cool (male) teacher...
Q94: Have you ever taken any art lessons, aside from school?
Nothing, never. And that's something I'd like to change, sooner or later.
Q95: Have you ever drawn comics/manga?
Characters from some manga is a big 'yes of course'. I started with drawing them.
Q96: Any quotes that you like?
If today men don't eat other men, it's only because cooking has improved.
And:
(Excerpt from The Ambiguously Gay Werewolf, by Jack Ichijouji.)
Q97: Do you think your personality is different when you're online, from when you're offline?
Mmmmh. You know, it's not really being online, so much as using a language different from your own. It brings down a lot of walls. For instance, I have no qualms about telling my friends here that I love them, usually as loudly and embarrassingly as I can, but you'd have to skin me alive to get me to say "ti voglio bene" in RL. My (Italian) best friend herself has heard it no more than a handful of times. And we've known each other for something like nine years.
Q98: Your goal?
Being self sufficient.
Q99: A message to yourself.
*meaningful glance* Man, stop hanging about being useless.
Q100: A message to the people who have read this.
Talk about procrastinating, people. You're all rather worthy citizens of my country.
And GOD but if I read about ONE MORE chocolate-addicted Remus I'm going to kill something. Kill it dead.
On Mtv the first Spice Girls' video is passing right now. And oh my god, I still have that cd. 'Forget my past' indeed... oh my GOD.
Now there's SA's Hedonism, though. Color me considerably relieved. :D
Hmm. I had thought the not-standing-properly and the teeth-chattering weren't very good signs. At least I've never fainted yet before reaching 40 °C. :P

Reading, poking people, joking on everything and everyone, myself included,
Q50: Do you like movies?
:D ..so I start
I think it was a sketch of Nerissa, a character of
Q72: Do you still have that picture?
:D I was seated in front of a bar with
Q91: Do you have any fans of yourself?
And:
Sirius nodded. “Can I ask one more question, though?”
“Why not.”
“When'd you figure out that you were, you know...?”
“Well, when I was very young,” Remus started sarcastically, “I was bitten by a homosexual and every full moon I found myself redecorating my room and listening to Muggle torch songs.”
