Now - this is not a review. Meaning that, if you haven't read the book and would like to? Check this out instead. Don't click on the lj-cut.
And I MEAN that.
(Which probably means I've written this just for Barbara, Jojo - and maybe
eleish? You read it, hon? - but I couldn't keep myself from doing it.)

Oh well. Blame it on the Jojo, it's all her fault, really. :P ...but let's give credit where credit is due, because Barbara has his share of blame as well. Hello love! :*

Now JUST WAIT THIRTY SECONDS. But did it have to be bloody November?
And I MEAN that.
(Which probably means I've written this just for Barbara, Jojo - and maybe
- D*U*C*K, an unordered list.
- My one big complaint? It's way too short. Then again, a 700 pages long book would have still been way too short.
- Looking at both it and Value laying on my shelf, I guess it's more or less the same length. Funny how it didn't bother me much when I read the one, and it felt like I hadn't even started reading with the other.
- Then again2, having read Liquor, Prime and Soul Kitchen all in one go, they are more or less like an unique book 896 pages long. (No wonder 1 700-pages book would seem short. The funny thing? I'd chosen that number because it sounded exaggerate.)
- Actually, there could be another complaint. She defines it slightly-AU, doesn't she? ...does that mean we won't have Snake the Flamer anymore?
It all depends on her definition of slightly-AU, I guess. I hope she manages to squeeze the whole novelit in somehow. Really, it was way too precious. - Oh. Man. One thing the Liquorverse did for me, was making me realize how much I love the scenes where my favorite characters come this close to pissing themselves with laughter. It happened with Prime, You Know Where, and it did again here. (The image of G lying on the floor, waving a towel and with is legs kicking weakly in the air, is one that I will always treasure in my heart.)
- John Randolph Rickey. I don't really need to add anything to that.
- Except I do, because how come I totally overlooked it in Liquor? There are just two possibilities, either I was weirded out by Mike (which might be), or I was in one of those book-devouring moods. You know? When the hunger is such that you can literally feel details passing by you, but still you can't stop and look back, because you want more, more, more?
- One thing that got me already when I read the book preview was how Rickey knows G's cock better than G himself. Seriously. The guy doesn't even know how to handle it on his own anymore, he's so out of practice. I snorted when I read that.
- This is no news, I already melted (literally) (I did the body motion and all, it was pretty pathetic) when I was talking about the preview with Jo, but aww. When Rickey takes G-man's hand in his and kisses his knuckle. Aww. Awwwwww.
- 13-y-o Rickey and G wrestling on the back of Elmer's car.
...
Yeah, I'm quoting the whole book. Surprise surprise. - Oh! Oh! Oh! I was forgetting about it! The part when Rickey looks up, after he's read the Ducks Unlimited letter, and realizes that G has him completely figured out. Could you not laugh at that? In a so delighted kind of way?
- The Wine, the Moonlight, the Prosciutto.
- The whole sequence with Rickey pouting about being called a genius.
- G-man counting the seconds off in his head. YOU KNOW IN WHICH PART.
- "You flying the helicopter, too?"
- The look on G-man's face when he brought Bobby in, the parenthetic clause when Rickey lays his hand on Bobby's shoulder, yeah, Bobby, it's pretty hard awright, "Oh my god, he's hysterical again", "You know what your problem is, T? You're always getting caught up in the minor details", the look on the guys' faces when they pull out the first duck, "What? You been sitting there planning that the whole time I was gone?" and god, I am pretty pathetic, ain't I.
Oh well. Blame it on the Jojo, it's all her fault, really. :P ...but let's give credit where credit is due, because Barbara has his share of blame as well. Hello love! :*
