Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

That's what she asked for - plus an extra that was asked by [livejournal.com profile] monophobia in a similar meme. Some interests overlapped, so I combined them together. :D

comparing turkeys — This is from a period when I was reading a LOT of Manics Interviews. Tried looking for a link, this is what I've come up with.

Reviewed by Richey James of the Manic Street Preachers

BRYAN ADAMS: Do I have To Say The Words?

Well, I'd rather make a cup of tea than listen to that, which is what
I'm doing at the moment. Everything I dislike about music, Bryan Adams
is the epitomy. Corporate rock, terrible production, designed for radio,
no thought, no soul, no sensitivity, no sex, inoffensive, easy,
involves nothing. You can't even compare it to his other stuff because
how can you compare turkeys? A turkey is a turkey. 0/5

gay married fish — Haha - this comes from a chat with my friend K. We were talking (I don't remember why) about how the good men are always either taken or gay. People keep telling you there's other fish in the sea, but what if they're either married or gay? Or gay and married? And there you go, I had a new interest.

gmail - inbox (1) — I love receiving emails. ;P And I believe I totally nicked this from K's interests list, too.

kicking_dumbledore_when_he's_down — Hehehehe! I wonder if K is connected to every interesting interest I've got :P One day, K and Ni and me were all lj-chatting on an lj-entry of Ni's - surprise surprise - and we started talking ill of Dumbledore. After he'd got down (see emotear at the end of... book 5, it was?) I do love being a mean bitch.

paddofotto —
As for the other things...

Do you know which is the transliteration of 'Padfoot' in Japanese?

Paddofotto.

Now, I'm sure this doesn't ring any bell for the most of you. Save the Italians. Because, you see, the word 'fotto' is our equivalent for 'I fuck'.

This had me giggling for at least fifteeen minutes. Just so you know.

rubber_chicken_with_a_pully_in_the_middle — Anyone knows of Monkey Island? No? So you've never heard of Rubber Chickens With Pullies In Their Middle? No? Sad. :D

wonderland overdrive — Series of original stories (a fandom, if you will) written by my very good friend [livejournal.com profile] joeru. :D They can all be found on her The Folly's Lounge.

sirius-black-is-hiding-in-remus-lupin's-pants — PoA, Ch.5 - The Dementor, page 96 paperback edition:

"And Professor Lupin stepped over you, and walked toward the dementor, and pulled out his wand," said Hermione, "and he said, 'None of us is hiding Sirius Black under our cloaks. Go.' "

YES, DARLING, WE SURE BELIEVE THAT.

Also - I got an email frome Ebay last week. Because yes, I'd signed up and completely forgot about it. So they say, try selling (up to three) something(s)! On these days it will be free of charge for you! Fact is, the days were 18 - 22 of October, so yeah, that means tomorrow is my last day. (I had kind of forgot about that email too.) I also have no idea what I could sell. Except from maybe drawings, but would you be interested in that? King of Cups would probably be a casualty, but I should go browse in my folder, I'm not even sure of what I've got. And I could get off my lazy butt and finish at least one of the hundreds half sketches I've got lying about. What do you think? Totally honest, it's not like I'd get offended either way :D

*delurks* You know, there are days when I feel like Pavlov's copy editor. I have been so conditioned by Gmail to be giddy over parentheses. Sometimes I get happy when I'm not even looking at my inbox and they pop up. :p

I know! :D We're all social animals, after all. ;P

Accents, chaucer's indie cred, gicb, poncy londoners, samurai champloo, squishing things, winking ukelala.

I'm trying to think whether any of my interests really deserve explication, but if you find some that interest you, let me know!

And, please alert us if you decide to open an ebay art dealership.

In the end I decided against it. :) I starting taking a look too late, I didn't want to do a rushed thing, which is exactly what I would have done. :P If anything, it gave me a chance to touch up King of Cups a little, though. ;)

They're not really seven, but... arthouse/foreign cinema, being a walking anachronism, contra dance, overdressing for the occasion, random acts of kindness.

(I especially like the last one - I'm very, very tempted to steal it. ;D)

Hem.

I only venture onto ebay as a buyer of misc. junk and pretty things, never into the fan art market and only once as a seller (guess what? it didn't sell!) So give it a shot, why not :)? But study other sellers, the ones with lots of bids, to see how they setup their auctions. Also, even though it's "free" they probably only give you one picture; you ahve to spend more to buy more pics.

I didn't, I would have been too rushed to do an even remotely decent thing. :P Who knows, maybe they'll make me the offer again? *g* (...nah, I don't really believe it, either. Oh well. I think I'll sleep soundly tonight anyway. :P) They were clear about it, you've got to grant them that - I had up to three objects. :D I could have taken a look for books, also - like, duplicate ones and the like. But, again, alas! Remembered too late! :P And if they didn't buy your stuff? They've probably got no taste anyway. :P

french revolutionaries with "pie", getting-chinese-food-the-hard-way, it hits a spring, jains eating iron, making crack work, miniature guillotines for snails, trilby.

The poor snails. What have they done? :o

Monkey Island? It is awesome. Probably the milestone in my growing up - and here you go, "oh, I do understand things now..."

french revolutionaries with "pie": I'm on the school Academic Team (like a quiz show thing, we play other schools) and at our practices we play question packets from old tournaments. One question from a 1991 packet went something like "Marie Antoinette said 'Let them eat cake', but which French revolutionary had 'pie' in his name?" No one figured it out, but then the hint was that he was nicknamed the Incorruptible. It's Robespierre. Awful.

getting-chinese-food-the-hard-way: My martials arts dojo is right next to a Chinese-food place, so whenever anyone hits or is about to hit that wall we make the joke that they're going to get Chinese food, can you get me some too? The wall's padded now, but it didn't used to be, and we still joke about it.

it hits a spring: I took physics last year as my science course, and that's what you never, ever want to happen to the mass at the end of a gruelling multi-part problem.

jains eating iron: From a review session for the AP exam in world history. My class was a weird and very cool lot. We were talking about the Iron Age and how iron made civilisations more powerful - obviously they made weapons and chariots from it, but one guy suggested that they ate it to intimidate their enemies. Later we were discussing Jainism - since Jains don't eat meat nor plants of which the eating kills the plant, one girl asked what they did eat then, and the same guy from before pipes up, "Iron!"

making crack work: I love when I have a cracky idea and plot it out and make it work. It is my favorite part of writing fanfic.

miniature guillotines for snails: From Calvino's Il barone rampante - the main character's older sister is this weird ex-nun who cooks her family all kinds of dishes with snails and otherwise tortures them. (There's one part where the main character and his little brother free the snails she keeps in the cupboard, but she finds out it was them.) When the French Revolution comes to Italy, she becomes fascinated with the guillotine and gets a mini one to kill snails with. Yeah, she's weird. :D I wanted to list some unique interests.

trilby: A book I read this summer, sort of the precursor to The Phantom of the Opera. Some really excellently creepy bits in.
