Hm. I know I'll regret starting, since this asks for more constance than what I have, but... well.

So, I'm going to start with Kimagure. ([livejournal.com profile] skylark97, if there's someone who doesn't know.) Man, I adore her writing. It's witty, funny and poignant, and she combines the factors in a way that leaves you defenseless - and when the blows come, you don't see them.

I read her One Last Regret early enough, in my history as S/R shipper... I remember I found the link to it through [livejournal.com profile] paddo's fav list on Ffic.it (never be said they aren't useful!), I read it, and I fell in love with it. I think the stories of hers I like the most are this one and Werewolf's Secret. Both of them had me trapped and, while in the first case I was lucky enough to read it when it was complete, the second had me actually needing the updates something awful. :D

“Fine. I will.” He blew out a puff air, and then tried to gather his thoughts a bit. “I’m here at three in the morning smelling like death warmed over because I wanted to talk with you about guilt.” Well, that hadn’t come out quite the way he’d wanted it to, but what the hell… “And feeling like what happened was all your fault and about thinking that everyone would be better off if you weren’t around, but knowing at the same time that even if you left it wouldn’t fix the hurt that they feel.”

It's a story about guilt, about regret, and about how can you start picking up the pieces after everything seems to have broken down. But also about loneliness, and about the sheer need to rely on someone else. And it's about how, no matter what, you still can't help having hope, even if it hurts. The story has a sharpness to it, and a honesty, that I rarely saw anywhere else, and maybe that's what makes it one of the stories that are dearest to me. Apart from the fact that many of things Sirius says, thinks, or does in there are too close for comfort - but that's very personal, after all. That story affected me way more than many of the others did, my favorites included.

And don't forget to read Common Threads. Or Puppy Love. Or...

And I dropped behind already. ^^; I should start making argh-more than one a day, in fact...

You know, I think that those two are the last WIPs I read in a very long time. All the fics I read in many months were all one-shots.

And Last Regret! The first story I read where Remus was actually angry, or showing more emotion than "hi Padfoot, twelve years passed, let's go back together and shag each other silly on the kitchen table!" Oh, Last Regret.
