Okay. It's late at night, just got back from a (v. v. successfull) graduation dinner, I'm feeling fairly tipsy (but not too awfully much) and this morning I finally finished DH.

And about said Deathly Hallows, there is just one thing I really want to say.

TEDDY REMUS LUPIN? Oh man, thank god she made you die, I live IN FEAR of what she would have made you do if you hadn't. Died, that is. Oh man oh man oh man. You just don't fuction if you don't have Sirius around. I mean - TEDDY. TEDDY. REMUS LUPIN (which was bad already) NAMING HIS SON LIKE A TEDDY BEAR.

(Also, Teddy my dear, snog any girl you like. You've got your father's blood. You won't be doing that for long.)

And the epilogue. We do not talk about the epilogue.

(Was I the only one who thought that JKR made up a grand total of three names and kept using them again and again (and again and again and again)? I was pretty relieved to see that Ron had not named his own Fred. Poor, poor Albus Severus. He's going to need so much therapy once he grows up.)

Oh, and you know, I was mostly sold on the "Harry's got to die" theory - I was one of those who'd suspected it for quite a while. I would have bought it completely, if it wasn't for the fact that I kept fingering the pages left until the end. There were just too many of them.

And where the hell was Draco for most of the book? I was sincerely expecting to see a lot more of him.

For the record, there was only one character that was simply not allowed to die - and that was Neville. Oh, I've never loved the boy that much.

Oh, and doesn't it strike you as just a bit suspicious that, according to Remus, Teddy takes after Tonks entirely, but she anxiously insists he resembles Remus a bit, too?

Oh, just a touch!

I wish I knew of some good Tonks/Charlie. I'm writing the pairing into a Lupin/Snape fic of mine right now but it hardly has a starring role. I don't think I'm well adjusted enough to write Charlie!

And damn, that's a gorgeous icon you have.

Hee - thanks. It's from 'The Countess Brownlow' by Lord Frederick Leighton. The full painting's much more impressive. I'm such a costume nerd - nearly all my icons are either Preraphaelite paintings or period films.

I make jewellery and fiber items and my sister is a costume designer, so I know the art obsession! When we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art last November, I spent most of the time photographing details of clothing and adornments in the paintings(which you can do without a flash).

The one time I was in New York for longer than a drive through, it was a Monday, and the Met was closed - I was devastated! I belong to an art society that sponsors an annual trip, though, so I should have the chance to go eventually. :)

You're welcome to live vicariously through my pictures (http://s56.photobucket.com/albums/g171/julesnoctambule/new%20york/) if you like!

Some of them are blurry because using a flash isn't allowed, though most aren't too bad. Almost all the pictures are from the European painting section with a few modern paintings, some Medieval sculptures and some ancient metalwork.

Eep! Thank you!

May I just say that I am so glad plucking one's hairline has long since gone out of fashion.

Very much agreed -- I'm lazy enough with my hair as it is!
