Wohoo! Been useless to the world at large for all of yesterday and all of today! Well, almost. Close enough, anyway. Yeeeah, it's those few days each month that make you contemplate the downside to being female. I'm sure several of you can relate. (Those of you who have painless periods? I don't want to talk to you just now. ;P) Woah, I hadn't had one this bad in months! Spent the vast majority of the days cuddled on the couch and watching Sex & the city reruns.
Well, at least I seem to be all right now - and just in time for Monday! How lucky I am. ;P
Anyway, it's time for some Dark Tower prattle now! I really haven't talked about it on here since the Drawing of the Three, have I? :O Well, I'm still loving it. ♥ With W&G I've been trying to pace myself, though. You know that "throwing self on audiobooks as if starved" thing? Wasn't working too well with The Wastelands already, I was fairly out of breath by the end of it. Still, LOVED it. ...even though if I heard "See you later, alligator" one more time I would have probably kind of screamed, but. ;P
Loved loved loved the bit with Eddie frying the train's brain. (...oh shut up.) I was getting ready to go out as I was hearing that, and people were waiting for me, and I just couldn't stop trying to find more things to do just to have an excuse to linger some more, and get to hear the end of the scene. ♥ In the end I had to drop it halfway through, but. It made coming back home that night all the sweeter. ;P
AND AND AND - still in W&G - when Eddie & Suze embrace again Jake & Roland? Could that scene be any more delicious? I was either drawing or writing at that point, because I'm sure I dropped everything I was doing just to awww in delight. Clasped hands and all.
(Which reminds me, when they're crossing the bridge to Lud and Eddie is suffering? The bit about if he needed something to look at, make it long tall and ugly, and then he looks at Roland? Oh how I loved him there. ♥)
Which, I suppose, makes it no surprise that I'm LOVING Cuthbert. Oh, that boy. <3 Annnnd after the scene at the Traveler's Rest - you know, the one with Roland having the drop on Jonas who had the drop on Alain who had the drop on Reynolds who had the drop on Cuthbert who had the drop on Depape... - when Alain slips the knife against Reynolds' throat? HAHA, SLASH ALERT. ...with Cuthbert, not with Reynolds.
jou has already promised to point me to some good fanfics once I'm finished with my homework the book! ♥
And... I had no idea whether Susan would be a character I'd like or not, honestly, before the flashback begun. But aw. At the point I am? Roland and Susan? Are pretty and sweet and cuddly like a couple of puppies. ♥♥♥
(It also break my heart knowing already that they are all going to die ._. DON'T WANT! But still. Aw.)
Also, new comic :P Actually, I did this when I was still at Do3. And I blame it on TOO MUCH PRATCHETT. (Except there's no such thing as "too much Pratchett". I miss my Discworld fix! <3 ) Because, you know, before him I'd never heard the expression - and now I can't hear the first half without thinking of the second.
(Drawing of the Three - Jake is in the Haunted House, trying to get back, but his key falls from his hand. The phrase in the last balloon? No, he never actually says that.)

...this is sad and unfunny and it still cracks me up each time I think of that line. Just like when the narrator does the "previously on this screen" recap at the beginning of each audiobook, and when he gets to Jake falling down saying "there are other worlds than theeeeese!" I imagine him saying "you bastaaaaard!", with the same tone, and I start gigglesnorting.
I AM SO SAD.
Oh! Of all the things I never should have found... <3 I think I'll start playing there and see if it is fun. ;P

on 2008-05-12 09:12 am (UTC)I love all of them so muuuuuch! AND OY. How could I have left Oy out of the entry? :O He's such a BUNDLE OF JOY! I loved loved loved when he mimicked everyone's expressions and sounds! Oh sweet little Oy. <333

on 2008-05-14 03:19 am (UTC)YES! Oy is the BEST! ::laughs, squeals:: Oh, he is a bundle of joy, our sweet, precious Oy. I adore him beyond words, and all of the characters and Cuthbert...oh, dear Cuthbert. Your Dark Tower icons are beautiful--the Ka-Tet one, especially.
Honestly....as if I even NEEDED another reason to love you!!! But finding out that you're a fan....omg! ::FLAILS::

on 2008-05-23 01:36 am (UTC)(I am also more than a little in love with audiobooks in general - and these in particular. Oh Frank Muller!)
Oh my god, Oy - and oh my god, Bert/Alain. It was something of a fancy at first, but now I really really ship it. <3 I'm always looking for fics! I'm hungry for them, even! I'm feeling like during my first R/S days!
AND AND AND - I'm listening to Wolves of The Calla. Roland's dream about the battle of Jericho. IT JUST ABOUT BROKE MY HEART. I was a little sniffling at that... Oh, Bert. Oh, Alain. <3333
REASONS FOR LOVE ARE ALWAYS NEEDED! <33333333333333333 *grabs, hugs and JUMPS ALL AROUND THE ROOM*
YOU BASTAAAAAAAAARRRRD~~~~ *falls*
on 2008-05-11 11:16 pm (UTC)Omg, your brain. One of these days I'm going to draw minicomics of our various misadventures while listening to audiobooks in public, or somesuch. It amuses me VASTLY.
Heeee, and the comic! HAHAHAHA, poor Jake! That kid has a hard life. He has to fall to his death in book one, and then go crazy, and then get chased by a doorkeeper, and so on and so forth. Poor babe!
And YES, I will be directing you at the Cuthbert/Alain fics soon, soon... *rubs hands together* Though I've found a few good Roland/Eddie fics in my various travels as well. *grin*
Re: YOU BASTAAAAAAAAARRRRD~~~~ *falls*
on 2008-05-12 09:44 am (UTC)SO IT IS!!! I finally got around to look for some icons, and GUESS what ones drew my eye. :P
Omg my brain indeed. Sometimes I wonder if I should pick up drinking or something, just to have some excuse to justify the stuff it comes up with. ;P Hahahaha! Omg omg omg do them! :D
Hehehe! Poor Jake indeed. And I did not have a mental image of a porter chasing Jake around brandishing a broom because he's dirtied the hall floor she (because it so would be an old woman) has just cleaned, or because
Oyhis dog has just pooed in a corner, not at all.Omg my brain INDEED.
AWWWWWW point me to everything you like! <333333 These are books I want to read fanfics about. ♥ For ONCE. ;P
Re: YOU BASTAAAAAAAAARRRRD~~~~ *falls*
on 2008-05-12 05:35 pm (UTC)...I still have to draw Oy at some point. Really.
UNTIL THEN. Cuthbert/Alain fics by an author that I like (but probably contain some spoilers for the end of Wizard and Glass):
AIMLESS
ALL IN THE HANDS
GOING FOR WATER
Ah, and a Roland/Eddie fic by the same author (non-spoilery, since it takes place in Drawing of the Three):
SLIP THE BORDER
.....You know, I really ought to make a fic recs post. I have a bunch saved up. :)
Re: YOU BASTAAAAAAAAARRRRD~~~~ *falls*
on 2008-05-13 03:42 pm (UTC)Hahaha! There's something in Oy that just asks for drawing, isn't there? ;D There's a scene in the Waste Lands that was just so PERFECT. <3333
YAAAAY THANKS! Saving the fics, but I will read them at a later date. I.e., once I'm finished with the book ;D Except for one THAT I SO CAN READ IT ALREADY. <33333
At the mention of rec list, I did not start looking like the stag in your icon. NOT AT ALL.
SO. MUCH. LOVE.
Re: YOU BASTAAAAAAAAARRRRD~~~~ *falls*
on 2008-05-13 04:36 pm (UTC)HA. I may have started a recs list already.... but had it set to private for my own nefarious purposes. I may yet make it public, however. ;) Also, I can't decided if I'm brassy enough to rec something I wrote on my other LJ. ;) Probably not. I may rec the comm that someone who is certainly not me started, though. Also that Liquor comm by someone who is certainly CERTAINLY not me.
And it is somewhat ridiculous that I have not drawn more Oy. I mean, come on. What's wrong with me?
Re: YOU BASTAAAAAAAAARRRRD~~~~ *falls*
on 2008-06-02 09:35 pm (UTC)Please unlock. Please. Or repost it. I'm starving here! Have pity of poor little me! ;D
Ooooooh poor sweet little Oy! The animal doesn't exist in real life, right? Right. ;P
GO THEN. THERE ARE OTHER FICS THAN THESE.
on 2008-06-03 04:22 am (UTC)Be warned, some contain spoilers for the end of the series!! Read at thy own risk!
http://jou.livejournal.com/229801.html
...And no worries, no one understands the fic-lust better than ME.

on 2008-05-12 07:02 am (UTC)Except that I love him with Suze. OH. But Eddie/Roland? Oh yes please.
CUTHBERT AND ALAND = FULL OF SLASHY GLEE, OH MY GOD. I have to admit, parts of Book 4 made me roll my eyes all "oh come AHHHN already" but I actually liked Susan way more than I expected to. And Mejis was really sweet. I loved the western feel! It does suck, knowing it's all going to go to hell in a handbasket, though. :*( poor bbs. SO MUCH SQUEE! *claps* and AHAHAHAH YOUR COMIC. MADE ME LAAAAUGH!!!
*squeezes you* YAy! I'm glad to see you enjoying the books too! :D :D

on 2008-05-12 10:21 am (UTC)OMG YES YES YES. I SO UNDERSTAND THAT. Wanting to marry Eddie, I mean. And each time I see him IT GETS WORSE. (Except now I want to marry Cuthbert as well. <3333 )
AAAAAAAAH you like it too! :o Omg omg omg! I swear, the more I think about that pairing, the sweeter it is to thik of the fanfics. <3 And aw, Roland/Susan! Hardly the most original setting ever, so it is, but I can't help finding them oh so adorable. ;D
AND OMG. When I saw how many discs W&G was? I thought back to your comment about having just finished it with a whole new sense of respect. ;) ♥
AND OMGGGG THANK YOU FOR LAUGHING!

on 2008-05-12 06:49 pm (UTC)Also, uh, sorry for the capslock. Dark Tower does this to me, as Jo will tell you. I only spent OVER AN HOUR on the phone with her last night, squeeing about it. AShlgaklgjadslkfj And next time I post something you wanna squee at, feel free to comment, because that's what it's there for. ;)
And oh oh OH I want to write SO MANY DARK TOWER FICS. SO MANY. I want to go out and get the damn comics now, too. *_* WHERE IS THE NEAREST COMIX SHOP?! ALSDFJASFDJ *flails* Ahem. Sorry. OKAY NO I'M NOT SORRY *flails*

on 2008-05-13 04:05 pm (UTC)Oh, and NO APOLOGIES! I tend to be a capslock abuser as well when I get excited, so I can only join you with it! ;D And hahahaha oh my god, a hour+ Dark Tower squealing sounds like SO MUCH FUN. XDDDDD Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
Well DON'T LOOK AT ME TO STOP YOU! *g* I want as many fics as I can lay my hands on! SO yes, WRITE THEEEEEEM THENKEE BIG BIG!!!! <333333333333

on 2008-05-13 03:44 pm (UTC)We can't help it! It's TOO STRONG TO RESIST! Not to mention that I don't see many reasons for resisting it at all. SO.
...and incidentally, the world might actually need a "we are well met" icon. YOU KNOW, JUST SAYING.
